ROUND Twelve - CRUISE WEEKEND

As part of Saskatoon’s popular Cruise Weekend, Auto Clearing Motor Speedway has three local divisions on the track tonight. The WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models, the SKL Trailers Pro Trucks and the Budget Car & Truck Rental Street Stocks. SEIDEL and LUCAS have significant leads their respective divisions (Super Late Models and Pro Trucks), so the battle for the rest of the season should just be for second place. ANDERSON has a 27 point lead over HEINTZ in the Street Stock division but with a few race nights left anything can happen!

Next weekend, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association, we invite you to the “Home Coming Weekend Special” which includes an open house and meet the drivers’ barbeque on Friday August 31st from 7:00 to 9:00p.m. Then on Saturday September 1, it’s the highly anticipated SuperSeal Canadian 200. NASCAR Camping World Driver Rick Crawford (335 starts in NASCAR with 5 wins, 75 top 5 finishes, and 160 top 10 finishes) will be our Guest Race Marshall. He will also present the race winner with a $10,000 cheque and an airline ticket to attend his SuperSeal 150 SLM race in Mobile, Alabama set for September 22nd. Our winner will be given a race car and crew to give him every chance to win. If our SuperSeal Canadian 200 winner finishes in the top three in Mobile, Alabama, he will have the opportunity to drive a NASCAR Camping World Truck in Martinsville Virginia on Oct. 27, 2012 for SuperSeal President Ted Herbert! Check out the list of registered drivers for the SuperSeal Canadian 200 on our website. Don’t forget to have your picture taken with the SuperSeal NASCAR truck and enter for a chance to win one of 20 bikes compliments of SuperSeal Construction Products!

DRIVER PROFILE – DEB NEWNHAM - #5 PRO TRUCK

I don’t have the racing experience that everyone else seems to have grown up with at the Bridge City Speedway, however I still felt the open arms to join in here at this amazing hand built club. The Pro Truck Division was already like a small family right there.

I am a proud parent of three daughters, whom all support me very much in the racing world. My oldest being in the pits helping take tire temps/pressures, while the other two are watching from the stands cheering me on, with my other important fans, my mother and aunts.

I’ve been racing full time since May 2010, a Mother’s Day opener. A race day which was started all due to the rain out of May of 2007. It was such an amazing rush of excitement, I have been hooked since, though not being an owner of a race vehicle, I made it my life thru the summers since that year. My dedication became a volunteer after getting my feet wet in my very first race of 2007, in the Street Stock division. Now I am a proud owner and driver in the Pro Truck division. I purchased my first truck from former racer Cale Siemens in 2009, an original build by Andrew Clewes in 2006, when the Pro Trucks were born. The truck was turnkey, which meant to me, “It’s ready to go racing” (LOL -NOT). Little did I know what I really got myself into, besides jumping into the truck and driving, I had no crew. This also meant no crew chief, mechanic or anyone to help set the truck up to handle the track. Thank goodness Ryan Purdy felt sorry enough for me, when I had my very first accident on the track during a race. I was flipped on the roof of my truck, sliding 20’ down the front stretch. The rest is history! Ryan is an amazing addition to my life, and racing. That’s when I knew that I had joined the right division; everyone was absolutely amazing, getting me and my truck back on to the track for the following race, which was in five days from the accident. Thru the winter of 2010 my truck was transformed into an amazing change. We are making some good ground finally (or it may just be me - learning to drive). It’s not as easy as jumping in behind the wheel and knowing it all.

A super huge thank you to all my sponsors, that have followed me thru my years of learning how to driving this great race track. I wouldn’t be racing if it wasn’t for them. We are making some good ground, the racing is getting very tight in our division, and I’m learning to stand my ground on the track.

“NOW LET’S GO RACING!”
