ROUND TEN RACING & WHAT IS PLANNED FOR THE REST OF 2012
Here we are again at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway (ACMS) with some more great racing in store for tonight. The visiting Western Elite Stock Car Tour will take to the track for their third of four stops here at ACMS. As well, our local Cooper Tires Thunder Stocks, the Part Source Mini Stocks and the Sask. Legends Series will also compete.
The past week has been busy for all but it has been a week to remember! Last weekend was the fourth annual Race For A Cure where our race teams raised money for the Canadian Cancer Society. This year’s event was the most successful ever with the total raised being $35,195 and with more money still trickling in. Thanks to the event organizers and sponsors, you’ve done the Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association proud once again!
A couple days off and we headed into the two-day summer spectacular. Tuesday the 24th was a regular points meet for the Part Source Mini Stocks and the WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models. The SKL Trailers Pro Trucks also contributed to the night with qualifying events for the second day of racing.
On Wednesday, the weatherman cooperated with us and gave us a fabulous cool day for racing. The Astro Towing Pro Truck 100 was a delight for the fans with LUCAS getting the win followed by LESCHENKO in second and WOHLFORD in third. Then, it was the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series’ turn to put on the show and they didn’t disappoint. Door to door racing, exciting pit stops and a close finish – what more could you ask for? DJ KENNINGTON won the Velocity Prairie Thunder 250 making it his fifth consecutive win in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series and his second Velocity Prairie Thunder title.
The 2012 season has been great so far…and ACMS still have lots left in store! The A&W Martensville Street Stock Invitational is planned for September 8; there are three more Dakota Dunes Casino Western Canadian Super Late Model Championship Series events to run – one of which has a $10,000 purse for the winner; the points finals for all divisions and the annual Ellenn Plastics Enduro are approaching fast! The Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association also has a special Homecoming event planned for September 1st to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the association. We hope that you will all attend!
Don’t forget to go vote for your favourite driver on-line at www.autoclearingmotorspeedway.ca. The driver with the most will be presented with a trophy on his/her last race event and have the bragging rights for being the Fan Favourite Driver 2012. Voting closes September 1st so vote today!
