Round Fourteen Racing - Street STock Invitational
Divisions competing tonight are the Part Source Mini Stocks, the Cooper Tire Thunder Stocks, the Budget Car & Truck Rental Street Stocks and the Western Sportsman. The 5th Annual A&W Martensville 100 is the feature race for the evening hosting Street Stock cars from across the province.
Tonight is the last race event of the season for the Western Sportsman division. It is a tight points race between #49 Ben Busch and #53 Scott Kessler – just three points separate the two drivers. The other three divisions racing tonight have one more event before they will hang up their racing gear and park the car. :(
Driver Profile - Craig Katelnikoff - #44 Street Stock
Q. It takes a real man to race a car with any pink on it. Explain. A. Pink on the car for the 3 women in the house. My wife Karen and my daughters Nicole and Addison.
Q. I know you have a spot at a lake somewhere, would you rather be at the track or at the lake? A. It depends on how the racing is going. This year we are doing good so I am having a blast at the track, last year...meh.
Q. Your car is working good this year, what turned the tide? A. We totally rebuilt the car one end to the other. All new parts, setup, etc.
Q. Where do you learn your tech tips? A. I read a lot about set up. I also learn from guys like Brad Wrennick, Trevor Freemantle.
Q. Do you do all the work yourself? A. On no, Andrew, Brad and Brad make the car go around the track. They are also there at the shop between races. I also would not be racing without my sponsors.
Q. Why do you race? A. The total enjoyment of it! I love it!
Q. What got you hooked? A. I was a regular at the old Bridge City Speedway track. It was something I always wanted to do.
Q. Who was your favorite back in the day? A. Garth Hazelhurst driving those Dodge Super Stocks.
Q. What was your first car? A. A camaro that I bought off of Willie Kovitch. I believe Don Pogoda made it. Brennen Forseille now drives it.
Q. Have you raced anywhere else? A. We went to Regina a few times. We always had bad luck there so we stay home in Saskatoon.
