Round Twelve Racing - CRUISE WEEKEND FUN
Celebrating “Cruise Weekend” in Saskatoon, Auto Clearing Motor Speedway has the Part Source Mini Stocks, the Cooper Tires Thunder Stocks, the Budget Car and Truck Rental Street Stocks and the WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models all on the track tonight.
The biggest point standings battle for those racing tonight should be within the Super Late Model division. Keep your eyes on SEIDEL and GAUNT – they are battling for the lead. SEIDEL held the top spot up until last weekend when some bad luck took him out of the feature early. GAUNT was able to capitalize on SEIDEL’s misfortune and with his good night (a third place finish in the feature) GAUNT took over the top spot and is now leading - but only by 3 points.
Saturday October 22nd – the 2011 Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association Awards Banquet will be held at Prairieland Park. Drivers, teams, sponsors and race fans are all welcome! Tickets will be available on-line soon...so mark your calendars now and plan to attend!
Driver Profile - Matt Hrycuik #02 Thunder Stock
Q. This is your first year racing correct? How do you feel it has gone so far? A. This is my first year racing and has been one of steep learning curves, i enjoy racing and every race I seem to get a little faster.
Q. Any surprises such as level of competition, etc? A. The competition level is a lot higher then I thought when I chose to start building a thunder car. When myself and Logan Derksen set our minds to thunder stock we thought: k bone stock rebuild on the block follow the rules to a "T" get out there bump a little race hard have a blast... and to our surprise a 2000 dollar thunder car doesn't exist above 8th place.
Q. Where do you work on your car and who helps you? A. With countless late nights at Torque Automotive Logan the team and I, have pushed through many long weeks of rebuilding both 02 and the Exon Val Diez from destruction with zero capital to almost brand new. With a full team of military veterans it can get a little dramatic from time to time, all hard headed, opinionated, some of of us might have anger issues, and we might not always do things the easy way... but we are one big happy family until about 04:30 in the
morning still working on one of the cars.
Q. Who are your sponsors and do they get involved with the racing? A. Torque Automotive has been a great help just being able to use the shop until ridiculous hours running their energy bill up, and of course Elance Steel always taking a large part in my car and supporting the track as a whole.
Q. What advice would you give to anybody who wants to start racing and put a car in the Thunder Stock division? A. Food for thought for perspective racers, if you want to get into racing offer to help one of the existing racers and take the time to learn!!
