SPECIAL EVENT – WCSLMCS & DIVISION POINTS FINALS With the season slowly coming to the end, tonight’s line up includes the 2012 Points Finals for the Western Elite Stock Car Tour, the Part Source Mini Stocks, the SKL Trailers Pro Trucks and the Dakota Dunes Casino Western Canadian Super Late Model Championship Series (WCSLMCS). DRIVER PROFILE – WADE WOHLFORD - #14 VIMY MEMORIAL PRO TRUCK Tell us about Wade Wohlford: A. I am 49 years old, self employed sinc Tell us about your Wheaton GM Vimy Memorial Pro-Truck: A. It is a 2006 Silverado Super Cab fiber glass body with a GM 350 Crate Racing Eng #602 the truck is dedicated to remembering Canada’s fallen hero’s with a theme from WW1 with pictures of the Vimy Memorial on the front of it, I took these pictures in September of 2007 after the reopening of the memorial in Aug of that year, for a Canadian it truly felt like I was walking on hallowed ground, my son of 17 was reading the head stones in the #2 Canadian cemetery and the ages listed were 17 to 19, the look on his face and the realization of how old he was and then later to touch surnames of kids he was going to school with came home to us all. That era is gone but we just cannot forget those souls ever. What are your strategies on and off the track? A. On the track I find pushing myself and the truck to our limits but over the years I have found that pushing past just plain hurts, the wallet mainly. Off the track I truly enjoy the little ones coming in to the pits to collect cards and sit in the race cars and trucks, the eyes are wide and the smiles just don’t stop and the best part! They go home with their moms and dads with all the sugar in them they could get off the teams. Give us some racer wife management tips? A. Yes Dear, How and when did you get started in racing? A. I started in 1985, a good friend of mine who is a mechanic and I went to the races opening day that year and saw a new div called THUNDER car! And for 300 bucks we could join in… well we started at 300 bucks but since then I was hooked. I have raced in the first year of Thunder, 1st year of Cascar sportsman, and I have raced Street Stocks two different times and now in the Pro-Trucks and this will be my last division. Who helps with your set-up? A. nobody I do it all myself! LOL yeah right! Over the years I have been blessed with a lot of good people who have helped and the list is long I will mention the team this year, Derek Clark, Gary O’brien, Scott Carter, Michel Chevigny, Tyler Matheson, Travis Wohlford, I will mention crew members who have now passed on, Mark and Rubin are truly missed. How important are sponsors? A. I prefer to call them Advertizing partners since I do own a sales agency, the #14 team does not promise results in racing but rather results in promotion of the sport and family fun with displays such as Canada Day in the park, Cruise weekend, and static displays at malls or at the advertisers locations, these business are very critical to racing as a sport here in Saskatoon and without our fans supporting them we just wouldn’t get the exposure we do, Saskatoon has a very large reputation in Nascar land as being a maverick, the Track is owned by the Club and run by the club like a business and there is no other successful racing facility in N. America like it, What does competing in the Astro Towing 100 mean to you? A. the race itself was without question the most fun I have had in racing since I started in 1985, 100 laps without a stop in between has never been offered to any other division other than the SLM’s and the racers in the Truck Division raced just as close and just as hard as the SLM’s the Astro Towing 100 this year was very close all the way to the end and a very big Thank you to the folks at Astro for supporting our division like they had over the past two years and that includes the drivers as well by towing several race cars to the track and helping ones that can’t load up due to wrecks after the races, Astro has been a part of the SSCRA support team for many many years and they are very much appreciated. Not to take away from Scott at SKL Trailers who support the Pro-Truck as a division throughout the year. I want to thank you for the opportunity to share with you all, the SSCRA at ACMS is all about family and good fun, it is an honor to belong to such a great group and diverse group of people!
