Tuesday night racing, not a common thing in Saskatoon but for the past couple of years the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway has been putting on a great local show the night before the big Nascar Canadian Tire Series event. Last nights racing was excellent with the PartSource Mini Stock, WSSL Auto Parts Plus Super Late Model and SKL Trailers Pro Truck divisions putting on the show.
The first division up was the PartSource Mini stocks famous for their four and five wide racing. The first heat saw #7 Darnell Schick getting the win followed by #14 Zachery Jalbert and #10 Kevin Dyck. The qualifier saw #92 Brennen Kirton get his first win, #1 Scott Barrand chased him to the checkers with #62 Kenny Heintz back in his mini stock for a cameo apperance. The feature race was a 40 lap affair and saw lots of action and some carnage, points contendor #1 Scott Barrand got tangled up in a wreck and wasn't able to finish the race. #10 Kevin Dyck put on a clinic as he charged to the front and stayed there most of the race. #7 Darnell Schick ran a close second but wasn't able to pull of the pass for the lead, #95 usually driven by Clay Wagner finished third with Robin Boomsma behind the wheel.
The WSSL Auto Parts division always bring the fastest action to the track with 14 second lap times you have to watch closely to keep up with the action. In the heat race #22 Doug Bienia broke a streak of bad luck to find victory lane, holding the #70 Trent Seidel at bay followed by #67 Ken Ross. The qualifier saw #70 Trent Seidel take the win with #77 Greg Vangool nipping at his heals and #38 Dave Bone chasing them down for third. The feature race was 50 laps of hard racing with a dash of carnage sprinkled on top. #14 Glen Hertzke and #22 Doug Bienia were involved in a wreck coming out of turn four, both cars suffered damage and had to be towed off the racing surface. The final laps saw #70 Trent Seidel hold off a hard charging #55 Jim Gaunt and #67 Ken Ross had another third place run.
The Skl Trailers Pro Truck division ran two races in preparation for their Astro Towing 100 event to open the Nascar Canadian Tire series show today. The heat race saw #50 Ben Pagoda get his first Pro Truck win, #19 Rylan Utigard ran a close second and #93 Neil Schneider had a good run finishing in third. The qualifer was full of excitement, filled with close racing and occasional contact. #18 Bill Zubrecki was involved in an incident and backed his truck into the back straight wall requiring a tow to the pits. The win went to #14 Wade Wohlford after a hard fought battle with #01 Alex Leschenko who finally turned his bad luck around. #19 Rylan Utigard had yet another fantastic race finishing in third place. After the race all trucks went through technical inspection, their tires were marked and the trucks impounded in preperation for the Astro Towing 100 race to kick off the Nascar race tonight.
