Round Thirteen Racing Race Report from Auto Clearing Motor Speedway Last night (Saturday September 3) was full of great racing action as drivers, teams and fans were out at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. The night was kicked off with a fabulous two plane fly by to honour and support our veterans. Three local divisions raced last night including the SKL Trailers Pro Trucks, the Western Sportsman division and the WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models. The visiting Baby Grand Series also put on a great show. In the SKL Trailers Pro Truck division, it was a great night for #38 Rick Kucher. He won the first heat, followed by #27 Scott Lucas in second and #19 Rylan Utigard in third. The qualifier race for this division was also won by #38 Rick Kucher, followed by the #67 Ken Ross and #19 Rylan Utigard. The caution flag flew early in the 40 lap feature as with only one lap completed the #5 Debra Newnham and #38 Rick Kucher tangled in corner one. The rest of the race was caution free. #38 Rick Kucher got the hat trick in racing with a win in the feature race. Second was #27 Scott Lucas and #67 Ken Ross in third. The Western Sportsman division racing was fast and tight! Their first heat race of the night was won by #53 Scott Kessler followed by the #51 Nick Jewel and #41 Travis Deforest. The qualifier race saw #04 Tim Kammer finish first with #41 Travis Deforest and #53 Scott Kessler finish in the top three. The first half of the 40 lap feature race for the division was good racing with lots of passes. Then with 21 laps left the caution came out with a spin in corner two. Racing resumed and again with just five laps to go another spin in corner two took out the fourth and fifth place position drivers. #53 of Scott Kessler received an open black flag which disqualified him from the race and he had to leave the track. The feature race top three finishing order was #51 Nick Jewel, #41 Travis Deforest and #49 Ben Busch. The visiting Baby Grands series were back in Saskatoon for the second time this season. 13 Baby Grands were out for the event but the night was not good to many drivers. The second Baby Grand feature of the night was 20 laps…and only 8 cars started the race. This race saw two cautions – the last with only 4 laps remaining. The #73 Tom Sherry was able to hold off the #6 Rob Stone for the feature win, with #04 Rob Hamilton finishing third. The final division competing was the WSSL Auto Parts Super Late Models. This division is so strong with lots of tight competition in the points challenge. Top three finishers in the first heat were #5 Jeff Reimer followed by #38 Dave Bone and #69 PJ Kondra. The second heat top three were #14 Glen Hertzke, #22 Doug Bienia and #70 Trent Seidel. The Bryce Mann Memorial 75 lap feature race was held to honour a local racing legend. Prior to the official start of the race two laps of honour with the pole position empty for Bryce Mann were completed. The cars then fell into position and the race was on! Cars battled for position and the first 50 laps were caution free…but with 25 laps a spin in corner four brought out the flag. Then again another spin and caution on the restart of lap 25 and another caution on lap 20. #77 Jim Barnsley was sent to the back for causing #5 Jeff Reimer to spin. The remaining 20 laps were again full of great passing and lots of speed. In the end #70 Trent Seidel crossed the finish line first followed by #55 Jim Gaunt and #14 Glen Hertzke. With the great finish #70 Trent Seidel was able to get within two points of #55 Jim Gaunt who leads the points standings. #14 Glen Hertzke was able to take over the third position in points standings. With one Super Late Model race event to go for the season…these guys are running hard…you won’t want to miss the finish! Full race results are listed below. Points standings can be found at the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway website at www.autoclearingmotorspeedway.ca. The next event for Auto Clearing Motor Speedway will be held on Saturday September 10th. Divisions competing are the Western Sportsman, the Cooper Tires Thunder Stocks, the Budget Car and Truck Rental Street Stocks and the Part Source Mini Stocks. It is memorial race night and also the 5th Annual A&W Martensville Street Stock Invitational will be held. Gates will open at 5:00pm with the green flag at 6:00pm. See you there!
