Junior Racing
About Our Junior Racing Program
The Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association welcomes youth into its membership and racing program. Youth between the ages of 12 to 18 qualify for this program. The purpose of the program is to give all youth an opportunity to be involved in racing with a minimal membership fee ($25) being the only cost.
In 2010, the Junior Racing program acquired a 1989 Honda CRX to be used as a training car with dual seats and controls to give the youth an opportunity to experience our race facility in a controlled, training environment. Training days will be held throughout the season.
2012 brings with it 3 junior training cars (2 ministocks and 1 thunder). We start training the youth in these cars at the age of 12 years old, and actual racing is allowed at the age of 14. (Yes, 14!!!). 2011 saw a large growth in cars and teams with most being juniors involved in the program.
In 2012, we will have 4 scheduled junior training days as well as the addition of 3 adult orientation days, giving adults the opportunity to experience and drive our track in actual training race cars.
Many race teams at ACMS are willing to accept juniors or new members onto their teams , so don't be afraid to ask, as getting involved is easier than most would think. Once again we promote youth/family involvement in our facility and look forward to an exciting yearin 2012 with many planned events.
