About Our Junior Racing Program
The Saskatoon Stock Car Racing Association welcomes youth into its membership and racing program. This program is designed to allow youth between the ages of 12 and 18 to become involved in stock car racing. The only cost to join our club as a junior member is a $25 membership fee. We begin training in our junior cars at the age of 12 and you can begin your racing career at age 14. (Yes, 14!)
History OF JUNIOR RACING AT ACMS
In 2010, the Junior Racing program at ACMS acquired a 1989 Honda CRX to be used as a training car. It is equipped with dual seats to give the junior membership an opportunity to experience our race facility in a controlled training environment with the advice of an ACMS race car driver in the passenger seat. Juniors are also taught some basics in automotive, for example, changing tires, oil changes, and the usage of basic safety equipment such as jacks and jack stands.
Junior racing days in 2011 saw immense growth in interest and participation, so for the 2012 race season, two more junior training cars (a ministock and a thunderstock) were added to the program, bringing our grand total to three junior racing cars!
The 2013 junior days were successful in regards to participation of both junior members as well as the SSCRA's drivers and volunteers who make this program a success. For the 2014 season, we expect big things from our junior racing program. Four junior racing days have been scheduled for our junior members to come out and gain some seat time, racing experience and knowledge.
Getting involved in the junior racing program is much easier than one might think. Aside from just attending our junior days, there are also many race teams who are willing to accept junior racers as a part of their teams, so don't hesitate to ask! We promote youth/family involvement at our facility and look forward to the following junior days:

Please Note: Junior Orientation Days run from 12:00 noon to around 5:00pm, so expect to be at ACMS all afternoon, especially if there are a lot of participants and you want more than one turn in a stock car. Be sure to bring water, snacks, sunblock, a hat, and bug spray with you and to dress for the weather. CLOSE TOED SHOES ARE REQUIRED FOR THOSE IN THE PIT AREA.
