Western Elite Division
Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway's Western Elite Division is Canada's equivalent to NASCAR.
In prior years the Western Elite Division were referred to as the CASCAR Sportsman
Division. Established in 1981, CASCAR (Canadian Association for Stock Car
Racing) was the governing body for amateur and professional stock car racing in
Canada until NASCAR's entry into Canada.
With the demise of CASCAR, Auto Clearing Motor Speedway established the Western
Elite StockCar Tour (WEST) as a place for former CASCAR Western Series and local
CASCAR Sportsman drivers to
race. The Western Elite cars are purpose built race cars with only the front half (or front
clip) of the chassis based on a GM passenger car with the rest of the chassis
and suspension fully fabricated for racing. Bodies are fiberglass reproductions
of 2006 North American cars.
