#3 Nathan Weenk and #24 Scott Dennis the recipients of #49 Ben Busch's misfortune finished second and third respectively. Busch was solidly in second position when, just as the white flag dropped for the final lap, when he lost his front right tire, allowing Weenk and Dennis to each move up one position by the time the checkered flag dropped. Busch finished the final lap on three wheels to claim fourth. Dennis almost never made the start of the race, having suffered major damage in his heat race after hitting the back wall. "I busted a tie-rod end and lost almost all of my fiberglass body, but my crew did a great job getting the car back in running condition" Dennis remarked after the race. The Next Siemens Transportation Western elite StockCar Tour race is scheduled to be held at Race City in Calgary on August 18th.

Ask Nick Allen if he prefers driving drag race motorcycles or stock cars, and he replies: “Yep.”

You can do just that this Friday, June 22, 2007 at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. Bring your car out, pay a $25 fee, sign a waiver and get in line.
As long as the registration for the vehicle you bring out is valid and IN YOUR name you are set to go. The procedure is simple, a line is formed and one at a time cars go on the track and drive 2 timed laps. You then go back into the pits and, if you wish go to the back of the line and try it again, as many times as you wish. To pre-register please fill out this form. For a list of times from last year's test drive day please click here.
A good example of a rookie getting better was the 3rd place finish by #82 Jonathan Neufeld in the heat race. The #19 Aaron Anderson/Kelly Voss team finished 2nd in the heat and Full Throttle Qualifier. #41 Jim Barnsley showed signs of regaining his form with 3rd place finishes in the Full Throttle Qualifier as well as the feature. Super Late Model driver Greg Vangool, substituting for his father Frank Vangool in the #77 car finished 2nd in the feature. The newest rookies in the Saskatoon Hyundai Sport Compact Mini Stock Division, the Wohlford boys driving the #69 car, steadily improved on the night, finishing 16th in the heat, 12th in the Full Throttle Qualifier and 8th in the feature. Osborne
Does What he Set out to Do
(June 16, 2007)Finishing well back of Osborne in second place was another King's Park Speedway driver #60 Lorne Ostrom. Rounding out the podium results was Mike Dionne in the SKL Racing team's #1 Monte Carlo. Dionne led for most of the first half of the race, before a flat tire in the 50 lap competition caution moved him to the back of the lead lap. Ken Ross driving the #28 Magna Electric Nova SS for Cale Siemens was fourth. For full results click here.
Saturday's Invitational will be Scott Lucas's first, and most likely not his last. Lucas, regularly makes the trek in from Prince Albert, to race the #27 Lone Star Parts Camaro and has been improving every time out.
Although Justin Tooley lives in Saskatoon he drives his #90 Dodge Diplomat on the dirt track in Outlook and has entered Saturday's race. Also entered is #43 Dale Osborne, the second of the racing Osborne brothers that race out of King's Park Speedway in Regina. Osborne is a regular at Street Stock Invitational races in Saskatoon.
D & E Racing's Doug Davies brought the #7 Advance Home Inspection Monte Carlo out of storage earlier this week and, after giving it a thorough going over, has decided to give it a go and "have some fun" on Saturday. Davies last raced on a regular basis in 2005 at the old Bridge City Speedway, but couldn't pass up the chance to race in the Invitational.
Also joining the field and looking for a trip to Martinsville, Virgina is the #8 All Brite Signs Camaro driven by Nyle Cockwill from Craven, SK. Cockwill is a member of Kings Park Speedway in Regina and is the 2006 Kings Park Speedway Street Stock Rookie-of-the-Year.
2005
and 2006 King's Park Speedway Street
Stock Champion Wayne Osborne has
pre-registered for Saturday's Living Sky
Magazine Martensville 100 Street Stock

in last year's Invitational will be
driving the #34 Comet Autobody Buick
Regal.
Wayne Osborne is one of three Osborne brothers that race regularly at King's Park Speedway in Regina. The other two, Dean and Dale were both expected to be on hand Saturday, however Dean "blew an engine last night", leaving Dale and Wayne to carry the Osborne name.
Also pre-registering for Saturday's race is James Hansen driving the #49 OSB Racing Team's 1985 Monte Carlo. Hansen is from Ebenezer, SK and races at the Yellowhead International Speedway in Yorkton. Wohlford is in the final stages of building a new pro truck and has yet to race this season. With Potts's Frankenstang, and one of Wohlford's sponsors being Krankenstein it sure looks like a monster battle in the making. Also pre-registered for Saturday's race is the Goodwench Racin Team's, #11 Tiger Automotive Camaro driven by the ever smiling Trudy Sawatzky.
Within
an hour of making the registration forms
for the Living Sky Magazine Martensville
100 available on-line the first official
entry was received. Ray Utigard, driver
of the #18 Pro Truck at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway, and member of the Stan
Caron Motorsports race team, has
registered car #19 for this Saturday's
big race.
By being the first to pre-register, Utigard will be able to head to the front of the "pre-registered" line when the back gate opens at 11:30 am on Saturday.
Guidelines for the race as well as registration and team information is now available by clicking here. The tentative race day schedule is also available by clicking here. To lessen their wait times at the back gate and to ensure they reserve their car number drivers are encouraged to complete the registration form as soon as possible. Yelland, a student at Mount Royal Collegiate, competed in the Automotive Service area of the competition against high school students from across the province. With Yelland's mark of 99% in his Grade 11 Mechanics class, Glenn Moody, Head of the Industrial Arts Program at Mount Royal Collegiate had no hesitation in registered Yelland, when it came to register students for the competition. The top three competitors in each area advanced to the Canadian Skills Competition. Yelland narrowly missed out on this opportunity. Congratulations Adam!
In the Lucas Oil Super Late Model Division, only one race has been run and the early leaders are #55 Jim Gaunt, #14 Glen Hertzke, and #38 Dave Bone with 41, 38, and 35 points respectively. The top 3 drivers in the NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck Division are within 6 points of each other, with #1 Mike Dionne leading with 94 points followed by #67 Ken Ross with 89 points and #18 Ray Utigard third with 88 points.
#98 Bryan Johnson sits atop the Tiger Automotive Street Stock Division after 3 races with 228 points. Johnson is followed by #36 Darryl Potts (212 points) and 28 Cale Siemens (208 points). The Hertz Equipment Rental Thunder Stock Division is led by #2 Sheldon Bradlow with 243 points. Bradlow is followed by #23 Kevin Nixey with 219 points and veteran #81 Barry Stefaniuk with 216 points.
No surprise in the Saskatoon Hyundai Sport Compact Mini Stock Division, the leader is the #19 Anderson/Voss team with 253 points. Next is #44 Jesse Krahn with 237 points and #77 Frank Vangool with 228 points. For the complete points results please click here.

The Auto Clearing Motor Speedway might smell like oil and gasoline, but Todd Nichol smells championship. The Edmonton-based driver took first place Saturday night at the inaugural Siemens Transportation Group Western Elite Stock Car Tour (WEST) race, the Affinity Credit Union 125.
"I was a little concerned because the battery died on the car about halfway through the race," said Nichol after receiving his first-place trophy. "But I just kept driving hard and the car came through. We smell championship now."
Nichol, in the No. 6 Monte Carlo, spent most of the race battling for first place with four-time CASCAR Western Series champion, Kevin Dowler, No. 35.
Nichol started the race in the pole position, but relinquished his lead to Dowler soon off the jump. It wasn't until lap 89 when Nichol was able to overtake Dowler's blue Ford Fusion and keep the lead for the rest of the race. [for complete article please click here]"Great door-to-door racing", an excited Siemens offered after Saturday's race program. "It was the same thing as last weekend, I'm pretty new at this so to me its just an honor to be racing against someone who has raced for as many years as Darryl [Potts] has. He's such a nice guy, when you race that close to him you know its going to be a clean race, I love it". For Siemens his win in the qualifier was his first win of the season. Other drivers to reach the podium Saturday were #69 Robin Drysdale with a 2nd place finish in the heat race, and #6 Joe Larochelle with a 3rd place finish in the qualifier race.
#2 Sheldon Bradlow was the vest driver on the night, winning the feature and qualifier race and coming in 2nd in the heat race. Barry Stefaniuk driving his familiar #81 car seems to be close to regaining his touch as he finished 2nd in the feature after experiencing a bit of mechanical trouble in both the heat and qualifier. #23 Kevin Nixey was 3rd in the feature and won the heat race. While #22 Rick Fredrickson managed a 2nd place showing in the qualifier, #3 Adam Yelland had his best race of the young season with a 3rd place finish in the qualifier. #49 Mickey Pogoda rounded out the podium results on Saturday with a 3rd place finish in the heat race.
Jesse Krahn in the #44 car secured the other podium position on Saturday, coming in second in the heat and qualifier and 3rd in the feature. #7 Darnell Schick ran a very strong feature race, taking home 4th place, ahead of #78 Matt Bartsch, and #41 Jim Barnsley.
Edmonton
driver, #6 Todd Nichol, opened the
inaugural Siemens Transportation Group
Western Elite StockCar Tour race, the
Affinity Credit Union 125, and closed it
in the lead. Nichol was one of only two
drivers that saw the lead in Saturday
evening's race. The other was #35 Kevin
Dowler, also from Edmonton. Nichol
started in the pole position,
relinquished the lead to Dowler after
only a few laps, and then regained the
lead on lap 89, after repeated attempts
to overtake him earlier in the race.
Dowler was set to regain the lead
himself a few laps later, but was foiled
when a caution flag came out just as he
was about to pass Nichol.
Nichol kept Dowler behind him the rest of the night. Finishing 3rd on the night was #46 Dan Shirley who over took #21 Nick Allen with only a few laps to go. Allen who ran 3rd for almost the entire race finished 4th. #95 Paul Savoie was 5th and Prince Albert's Ben Busch 6th on what turned out to be a perfect night of racing.
Perfect night that is, except for #29 Les Harding. Harding experienced some trouble in hot laps, losing his fiber glass hood, fenders, and nose cone when hit by #46 Dan Shirley. Shirley suffered the same fate. Both drivers were able start the feature race after their crews sis a fantastic job fixing the damage. In the feature Harding happened to be in the wring place at the wrong time a couple of times, experiencing more damage to his front end, and finally had to park it with about 10 laps to go.

Saskatoon's
Glen Hertzke in the new look #14 SPI
Security Ford Fusion paced the field
with a sizzling 14.751 pole winning lap,
just prior to the start of this past
Saturday's NEWLALTA Late Model Challenge
Series race. Hertzke was the 14th driver
to qualify. Two other drivers broke the
old track record of 14.912 seconds set
by the #50
Sky
Financial Chevrolet Monte Carlo
driver Jim Gaunt at the season finale of
the NEWALTA Late Model Challenge Series
on October 1st, 2006.
"I'm
very excited to have broken the record,
particularly since Jim Gaunt held it all
winter. Maybe it was the race suit I
bought from Trent Seidel a few months
back, but I was really able to pick the
right groove on Saturday" noted Hertzke
on his record setting achievement.
Hertzke is also the holder of the Super
Late Model track record at the now
defunct Bridge City Speedway.
Following Hertzke out on the track,
Calgary driver Jarrod Johnston rocketed
the #7 Alamo Industries Chevrolet Monte
Carlo to two consecutive laps under 15
seconds, a 14.921 and a very quick
14.783 seconds. Johnston was the only
driver to post two laps under 15
seconds.
Another Calgary driver Brian Levant in
the #49 Baja Bar and Grill Chevrolet
Monte Carlo was the only other driver to
break the previous track record by
circling the fast Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway at 14.850 seconds. Levant was
the 22nd car in the qualifying order.

Roger
and Gail Herb from Camden, New York were
heading to Alaska last Friday when, at
the border crossing, they heard about
Saturday's NEWALTA Late Model
Challenge Series race at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway on the radio. "When we
heard that, we knew Saskatoon was
where we were going to stay for a few
days" Roger recounts. "We follow stock
car racing in the US and didn't want to
miss an opportunity to see a race up
here."Roger (pictured here on the right with Marketing and Business Development Manager Herm Hordal), and Gail dropped by the track Friday afternoon, found out about the practice, booked a campsite at Gordie Howe Campground, and then came back to watch Friday night's practice. Roger watched most of Saturday's practice times, headed by to the campsite to pick up Gail to watch the race program in their motor home in the RV parking area. Roger was even given an opportunity to ride in the pace car. "This is one heck of a track you got up here, and the hospitality has been great, if we'd been treated any better we'd have to move up here." Thanks for the visit Roger and Gail, and we hope to see you on your way back to New York.

#36 Darryl Potts and #28 Cale Siemens also had good nights. Potts, who hails from Watrous, collected three 2nd place finishes and Siemens a couple of seconds and a third.
"The car was strong, and it stayed consistent, in fact it actually got better as the race ran on. I'm a big fan of long races", Gaunt offered after the race. Gaunt took over the lead at around the 80 lap mark and never relinquished it, staving off some late charges from local drivers #33 Dave Bone
With #14 Glen Hertzke completing a Saskatchewan sweep of the podium results, by finishing 3rd, it's fair to say that the Saskatchewan has maintained its grip on the Border Challenge Trophy. The 34 cars that raced Saturday was the highest Super Late Model car count in Saskatoon for several decades. The count would have even been one higher had #99 Bill Joyce not blown an engine in practice on Friday night.
The order of finish for Saturday's race was as follows: 15, 33, 14, 4, 67, 54, 55, 53, 70, 69, 77, 89, 07, 6, 36, 41, 82, 5, 12, 20, 97, 29, 49, 56, 88, 424, 7, 69.
Saskatoon,
SK -
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway was open for practice
Friday night and many of the teams of the NEWALTA Late Model Challenge
Series that arrived early in Saskatchewan's largest city made their way

Cranbrook, BC driver Clint Harbart and the #09
Minute Muffler Ford Taurus has made his return to the track. Habart
also made the trip to Saskatoon for the 2006 season finale.
Making
his first appearance at the new and fast Auto Clearing Motor Speedway and his
debut in a Super Late Model was Edmonton, AB driver Phil Habberjam and the #60
Habberjam Mechanical Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
The
session ended early for Edmonton, AB driver Bill Royce #99 Pitlane
Racing Depot Pontiac Grand Prix when his motor expired coming out of
turn 2.
Also
on track was #41 SFE Global Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Devon,
AB driver Kevin McMillan. Along with Dean Craig and Bill Royce, McMillan
finished in the top 10 in last year's season ending Border Challenge Race in
Saskatoon.

Veterinarian
finds his passion in a

first race didn't go
quite as anticipated. In
fact it didn't go at
all.He got the racing itch in the mid-1980s when he and wife Marj sat in the stands, listening to the cars on the old Bridge City Speedway track. "It just sounded so exciting . . . I just wanted to try it," says Bienia, whose day job is as a veterinarian.
"It was a moment of weakness," says the 57-year-old from Hague. Two decades later, as he prepares for Saturday's 150- lap NEWALTA challenge for Super Late Models and as many as 25 challengers, it's still just as exciting. ........ [click here for entire article]

In the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock Division, #2 Sheldon Bradlow has the early lead. Bradlow is followed by #81 Barry Stefaniuk, #23 Kevin Nixey, #19 Rylan Utigard, and #49 Mickey Pogoda.
In the NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck Division, the #1 truck driven by Mike Dionne is the best of the bunch so far. Not far behind are #67 Ken Ross, #18 Ray Utigard, #8 Andrew Clewes and #48 Roger McConnell.

The Luca Oil Super Late Model cars have yet to hit the track. For a full listing of the Points Standings after Friday night's races please click here.
The Competition Committee ruled this week that only cars/trucks conforming to Division rules are eligible to maintain Division track records. As a result of this ruling the Street Stock Division track record time of 17.587 recorded by #1 Deb Newnham on May 13, 2007 is ineligible and #98 Bryan Johnson is the official track record holder in the Street Stock Division with a time of 17.714, recorded on May 13, 2007.
Friday night's cold track conditions were very much to #1 Mike Dionne's liking as he raced to first place finishes in all three of the NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck Division. "The truck seems to be gripping pretty good tonight, even though it's cold" Dionne said after his qualifier win. Dionne who lives in Brock, SK drives the #1 Pro Truck for owner Scott Lewchuk and SKL Trailers of Dundurn, SK.
#2 Sheldon Bradlow came close to matching the performances of Anderson/Voss and Dionne, winning the qualifier and feature races in the Hertz Equipment Rental Thunder Stock Division. Bradlow's quest for a triple win night was thwarted by #23 Kevin Nixey won won the heat race.
Whilst the Thunders, and Minis next action is in 2 weeks time, the Pro Truck's next race is not until June 9th.
A total of 15 cars took to the track in the Siemens Transportation Western Elite Division Friday night, offering some relatively exciting racing. The 15 cars were divided in half for the heat and qualifier races which saw caution free driving for the most part. With all 15 cars on the track for the feature race the story was a little different, as a number of cautions were required, one for a multi-car pile up in corner #4. Next action for Western Elite drivers is Saturday June 2 when the first of 5 Siemens Transportation Western Elite StockCar Tour races will be held right here at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon.
Also on tap tonight are repeat performances by the Saskatoon Hyundai Sport Compact Mini Stocks, Hertz Equipment Rental Thunder Stocks, and NAPA Auto Parts Pro Trucks. Race time tonight is 7:00 pm. Front Gates open at 6:00 pm. For tonight's race program please click here.
Roger
McConnell, from Gaslyn, SK enjoyed a
pretty good Mother's Day afternoon at
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway winning the
NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck heat and
feature races. McConnell, driving the
#48 Pro Truck, also finished 5th in
the qualifier and 7th in time trials.
After an opening 7th place finish in the
heat race,
#8 Andrew Clewes made some
adjustments to his truck and won the
qualifier and finished 2nd in the
feature race.
#67 Ken Ross also had a good afternoon, with a 2nd place finish in the heat race, a 4th place finish in the qualifier and a 3rd place finish in the feature. One of the newcomers to the NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck Division this year, #17 Stu Pearce, more than held his own. Pearce broke the Pro Truck track record with a clocking of 18.095 seconds and finished 3rd in the heat race, 6th in the qualifier and 5th in the feature. Pearce, who won the 2006 Thunder Stock Points Championship, posted a speed of 122 kph on the front straight in his record setting lap.
Three other drivers, #67 Ken Ross, Mike Dionne in the #1 SKL Trailers truck, and #18 Ray Utigard also bettered the previous track record. For the complete results of Sunday's races please click here. The Napa Auto Parts Pro Truck will next see action on Friday May 18th.
Three drivers broke the Street Stock track record Sunday afternoon; Johnson, #11 Trudy Sawatzky, and #1 Deb Newnham, with Newnham now holding the record with a time of 17.587 seconds (121 kph on the front straight). For the complete results of Sunday's races please click here. Next action for the Tiger Automotive Street Stocks is Saturday May 26th.
Mickey Pogoda spent Mother's Day behind the wheel of the #49 Thunder with her pit crew, children Ben and Sara, by her side in the pit area. For Pogoda, racing is "all about spending time with her family", so spending Mother's Day at the track is no big deal. For the complete results of Sunday's races please click here. Even though, as of 4:30 pm this afternoon, the skies are bright and sunny, at 3:30 pm the area around Auto Clearing Motor Speedway looked like a winter wonderland, the result of a heavy hail storm. The hail and accompanying rain was too much for the parking lot and infield pit area to handle in such a short time frame. As a result, even though the weather looks fine right now, the damage has already been done.
The race program tomorrow will remain the same as today, with the Saskatoon Hyundai Sport Compact Mini Stocks leading the way, followed by the Tiger Automotive Street Stocks and Hertz Equipment Rental Thunder Stocks. The feature Division tomorrow will be the NAPA Auto Parts Pro Truck Division. The tentative race program for tomorrow remains the same as it would have been today, except for the change in times. Tomorrow's race program starts at 2:00 pm with the front gates opening at 12:30 pm.
Please check the web site tomorrow morning for a further update.

The
newly formed Western Elite StockCar Tour
was officially unveiled at a Friday
afternoon Media Conference at
Prairieland Park.
The WEST
was organized
over the course of the last three
months, specifically for drivers of the
former CASCAR Western Series and local
CASCAR Sportsman drivers. The series is
administered by Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway and in its inaugural season
will consist of 5 races, 4 at Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon and
the other one at Race City in Calgary,
Alberta. It is intended that WEST races
will be hosted by other tracks in the
future.
The objective of the WEST is to build a competitive race series with a professional image and appearance. The race program will be consistent from track to track and the emphasis will be to provide fans and corporate partners with some exciting competitive racing that showcases drivers and their crew. The WEST rules package was developed with both cost and competition in mind. Racers will be allowed to run crate engines to reduce costs and the official tire for the series is the 8" Goodyear race tire.
From a local perspective, the WEST
provides local drivers an opportunity to
improve their skills by racing against
the best. As of April 22th, 14
drivers had registered for the Western
Elite Division at Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway - which provides them access to
the 4 WEST races being held in
Saskatoon. It is expected that a minimum
of 20 drivers will be on hand for the
first WEST race in Saskatoon on June
2nd.

title sponsor of the Western Elite
