Message from Tennessee
(March 26,
2007)

This picture and the email message
below were received this afternoon.
Looks like no explanation is
required, but there must be a story
or two in here somewhere.
"Here Yea!!
Here Yea!!
Here Yea!!
This Proclamation is to declare
that Trent Seidel, Jim Gaunt, Wade
Wohlford and John Davidson members
of your organization have met the
requirements and from this day
forward will be know as Certified
Tennessee Rednecks. Most residents
of East Tennessee are automatically
declared "Rednecks" but to be
Certified, one must attend a NASCAR
Race at the Bristol Motor Speedway.
Trent, Jim, Wade and John became
qualified by attending the 2007 Food
City 500 on the 25th of March. This
was also a Historical Event for the
NASCAR Organization. It was race No.
1 in the Car of Tomorrow era and the
Winner was Kyle Busch.

Auto Clearing Motor Speedway provides backdrop
for Speed Channel Interview
(March 24, 2007)

Those
of you that watched Speed Channel
earlier today, may have spotted a
reference to Saskatoon and Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway. In the background of the
picture on the left, you can see "atoon,
Sask" and a bit of the Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway logo on a rather large
looking banner. This particular moment
was captured by Doug Cooper off his TV.
Thanks Doug! It never hurts to get a
little International exposure! The
picture on the right, sent in by Adam
Martin, shows both the name and logo
more clearly. After doing a bit of
investigation, preliminary reports
indicate that local racers Jim Gaunt,
Trent Seidel, and Wade Wohlford may, in
fact, be the ones responsible for
carrying the banner (so to speak) for us
on this one. Apparently these three left
on Thursday to take in the NASCAR
festivities and races in Bristol. Thanks
guys!
Potts Signs up for Full Season
(March 22, 2007)
#36 Darryl
Potts from Watrous, SK is the latest
Street Stock driver to register for the
2007 race season at Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway. Potts has been at the racing
game for a long time, starting on the
dirt when he was 16. "In my second year
of racing, the first time I brought the
car to race in the city (Saskatoon) I
kept one of the fastest cars behind me
for more than a few laps - not so much
because of my driving ability, but more
because he, nor I, knew exactly where I
was going" laughs Potts. By the late
80's Potts raced anywhere and everywhere
he could, usually finishing near the
top. "I had a lot of fun in those days"
recalls Potts. After a bit of a
hibernation in the mid to late 90's,
Potts dragged his Mustang out a few
years back, took some time to piece it
together, raced in Regina in 2005 and a
couple times at Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway last season. "We'll give 'er a
go this year and see what happens".
Cars Wanted for Junior Program School Visits
(March 21, 2007)
Glen Moody
head of the Mount Royal Collegiate
Industrial Arts program has requested a
lunch time display and visit to their
school, much similar to the visit that
was undertaken last year. No date has
been set yet, but the time commitment
would be from 11:30 am through to about
1:00 pm. If anyone can help out, please
contact
Cliff Yelland to organize a date
that will fit your schedule.
Schedule Updates
(March 20, 2007)
Race fans
are advised that the official 2007 race
schedule has been updated to reflect the
Western Elite Division name change as
well as for the inclusion of the King's
Park Speedway invitational races for the
Mini Stock,
Thunder Stock
and
Street Stock divisions. If its been
a while since you printed off the
schedule from the web site,
particularly the division specific
schedules you may want to do so again to
ensure that you have the most recent
version.

Update on Jim Rhode's
Condition
(March 19, 2007)
Jim
Rhode remains in the Intensive Care Unit at the University Medical Center
(Trauma Unit) in Las Vegas, where he was rushed after his motorcycle
accident on Saturday March 10th. Although Jim suffered severe physical
injury to many parts of his body, his head, chest and back are unharmed. Jim
was wearing a full helmet at the time of the injury. Over the past week Jim
has had several surgeries to begin the recovery process. It is not known
when Jim will be transported back to Saskatoon. Since the space is very
limited and the ICU facility Jim is at is very busy, they cannot accept
flowers or gifts. Jim's wife Judy has been swamped with telephone calls and
although she appreciates the support very much asks that everyone limits
their calls or possible goes through Glenn for information and to pass on
best wishes. Please
click here for a summary of the situation as kindly provided by Glenn.
Sportsman Division no
longer- Replaced by Western Elite Division
(March 19, 2007)
To more
appropriately tie into the Western Elite
StockCar Tour (WEST) the former local
Sportsman Division has been renamed the
Western Elite Division. No rules,
other than those that relate to the
Division name, will be effected by this
change. "The change in name to Western
Elite from Sportsman not only provides a
natural tie in the WEST, we feel that
new race fans will be able to more
easily associate the type of car in this
division with its name" notes the
Western Elite Division technical
representative Shawn Hill.
Message From #22 Thunder
(March 18, 2007)
It
is with much disappointment that today I
am announcing that, due to an ongoing
family matter that requires my utmost
attention, we will not be returning to
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway for the
2007 race season. We would like to
take this opportunity to thank our
sponsors and crew for standing by us
through all of the uncertainty the last
couple of months. We are a race family
and it will be difficult to be away.
Hopefully, when we do come back, it will
be with a new little fan for the #22
team dressed in team colours just like
his daddy. We will live to race another
day! Thank You from the driver of the
#22 Thunder and Mini Stock. You know the
name.

Many Items on
Tap for Monday's General Meeting
(March 14, 2007)
With Mother Nature starting to give us a
bit of an indication that spring is
really not that far away, its time to
turn our attention to racing. Over the
course of the winter months the
Executive Committee, Competition
Committee, Fan Side Committee, Marketing
and Business Development Office and
others have been busy planning Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway's 2007 race
season.
Many of
the planning initiatives have progressed
to a stage where they can be released to
the racing community. With less than 2
months to 2007's opening race, anyone at
all interested in racing at Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway is invited to
Monday night's General Meeting at the
Sandman Hotel. Come find out for
yourself - don't rely on the rumor mill.
See you there!
Shirley Donates
Safety Equipment to Junior Racing Program
(March 07, 2007)
Cliff Yelland, Junior Executive and co-ordinator
of the Junior Racing Program at Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway thanks #46 Dan
Shirley for his generous donation of
safety belts to the junior racing
program. "After realizing that the newly
adopted rules for the Sportsman Division
specify safety belts for that
division
can only be used for a period of
three years; two years shorter than any
of the other divisions at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway, I asked Dan whether he
had any good used serviceable belts that
were at the end of their third year that
he wouldn't mind donating to the junior
racing program", explains Yelland, "and
he gave me the two year old
set out of his car. "I believe in
the junior racing program", was
Shirley's response when asked about his
contribution.
Other Sportsman or Western Elite
StockCar Tour drivers wishing to donate
good used safety equipment that no
longer meets their rule books are asked
to either contact
Cliff Yelland or post a note in the
Classified section of the web site.
Likewise, any young aspiring drivers in
need of safety equipment are asked to
contact
Cliff
or put the word out in the
Classified section of this site.
Deagnon Enjoys
Positive Outlook After Lung Transplant
(March 03, 2007)
Shawn
Deagnon has started making longer-term plans
rather than living day by day. He sees the
world differently after undergoing a double
lung transplant and major heart surgery on
the same day. "There's enough negativity,"
he said. "Look to the positive in
everything." After all they've been through,
he and his wife, Cindy, no longer worry
about the small stuff.
Yet since
Shawn's surgery last April, the small things
have become life or death. They've taken a
second mortgage to renovate much of their
house to eliminate airborne moulds and
anything else that could irritate his lungs.
Movies and other crowded public places are
problematic.

"In-Tents" Zone Filling Up
Fast (March
03, 2007)
If you've been at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway you've no doubt noticed the white tents located on the
concourse level overlooking the main grandstands and the track itself. These
10' x 10' tents include a 10' x 10' deck in front and can comfortably
accommodate 8 people. They are a great place to catch all the sights and
sounds of all the hard paced race action. If you or your company is
interested in renting one of the "In-Tents" Zone tents for either a race or
for the season, please give Herm Hordal in the Marketing and Business
Development office a call at 306.956.3225. But please don't delay because
the list of available tents is shrinking fast.
WEST Starting to Take Shape
(March 03, 2007)
Ever
since the announcement in mid December that NASCAR Canada would not be
maintaining the former CASCAR Western Series, Herm Hordal, Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway's chief marketer has been searching for ways to provide the
former CASCAR drivers an avenue to continue racing. After a couple of months
it appears as if he has found the answer with the formation of the Western
Elite StockCar Tour (WEST). Many elements of the WEST were brought into
focus at a recent organizational meeting in Edmonton. Although many things
remain to be worked out with respect to race day format, points fund and
general administration, what is known for sure is that there are 4 WEST
races included in Auto Clearing Motor Speedway's 2007 race schedule. This is
great news for Saskatchewan race fans - you'll get to see some of the best
drivers in Western Canada, not once, or twice, but four times during the
summer.
With the 4 WEST races being
included as part of Auto Clearing Motor Speedway's 8 race Sportsman race
schedule, all registered local Sportsman drivers will not have to incur any
added costs to race against the best in the west as they would have had to
to race in CASCAR Western Series. As a result, fans will be able to see how
all our local drivers stack up against the best in the west. Further news on
the WEST will be provided as it becomes available.

Mac's Continues as Official Ticket Outlet
(March 02, 2007)
Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway is pleased to confirm that Mac's Convenience Stores
will once again be the Official Ticket outlet for tickets to races at Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway. "The introduction of Mac's as our Official Ticket
outlet last year relieved a lot of pressure off of our front gate staff",
noted President Andy Clewes. Last year race fans were able to stop by any of
the 11 Mac's Convenience Stores in Saskatoon or the 2 stores in Prince
Albert to purchase their race day tickets. They were even offered a slight
discount for doing so. Watch for signs in your local Mac's store announcing
when tickets will become available for this years races.

added to the 2007 race

provide enhanced value for our fans on this race date", offered Competition
Director, Bryan Johnson. The August 18th race program will now consist of
the Street Stocks, Sport Compact Mini Stocks, and the Pro IV's.

NEWALTA Late Model Challenge Series Crate Engine Clarification
(February 26, 2007)
Craig Ball, President of the
NEWALTA Late Model Challenge Series advises that Super Late Model cars
running a crate engine can run in the series this year without a matching
body type. "Since Ford and Dodge are currently having some issues with their
crate engines, I will allow GM crate engines in any body type.
I recognize that the rule book does state that the engine and body should
match, and this is certainly the case for open engines, but the exclusion
for crate engines was missed in the rule book, we will definitely will allow
a non matching body for the crates" confirms Ball.
Official Tire Suppliers Confirmed
(February 26, 2007)
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway is
pleased to confirm that agreements have been reached with both Cooper Tires
and Auto Clearing All Makes and Performance Parts to be Official Tire
Suppliers for the 2007 race season.
Cooper Tires continues as the
Official Tire Supplier for four of the six local race divisions; namely the
Pro Truck, Street Stock, Thunder Stock, and Sport Compact Mini Stock
divisions. Drivers in each of these four divisions purchasing tires are
asked to keep their receipts for any tires they purchase as the 2007
agreement with Cooper Tires includes a 'per tire' contribution to a year end
points fund.
Auto Clearing All Makes and
Performance Parts is now the Official Tire Supplier of Goodyear tires for
the Super Late Model and Sportsman divisions. This partnership also includes
a 'per tire' contribution to a year end points fund. Details on pricing and
availability will be announced when received.
Edmonton's Dennis
Brothers Both Register in local Sportsman Division
(February 22, 2007)

A
pair of former CASCAR Western Series drivers from Edmonton, Alberta, Chris
and Scott Dennis have registered to race full time at Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway in 2007. According to their father, Paul Dennis, "as a team we are
very excited to be participating in Saskatoon this summer, the boys are
looking forward to getting some valuable seat time and running against and
learning a thing or two from the great group of local Sportsman drivers you
have there."
Both of the Dennis brothers, #48
Chris and #24 Scott , were rookies on the CASCAR Western Series circuit last
season, their fifth season behind the wheel of a stock car. While #24 Scott
finished 9th in the CASCAR Western Series points standings in 2006, just
missing out on the Rookie of the Year award, brother Chris in the #48 car
had 'a horrendous year' encountering numerous mechanical issues and finished
16th on the year. When asked to describe their driving style, Paul Dennis
noted that "both boys are cautiously aggressive".
The Dennis's will most likely
be providing race fans with another first this summer, as both of their cars
will be running with crate engines - an option under the 2007 Sportsman
Division rules. "We'd definitely like to show that the crate engine is an
economically viable competitive alternative for racers with limited budgets
or desires to minimize their costs." notes Paul Dennis. Welcome to Auto
Clearing Motor Speedway fellows!
Track Information Sheet
(February 20, 2007)
Over the past few weeks several
drivers have contacted us for some basic information on Auto Clearing Motor
Speedway to add to their packages as they approach potential car/team
sponsors. As a result we have developed a 2 page Information Sheet that
provides a bit of a snap shot of the track. Please

Daytona 500 Party Report
(February 19, 2007)
Thank you to the 40 or so avid
race fans that took in the Daytona 500 Party at the Odeon Events Centre
yesterday. By all accounts everyone in attendance had a very enjoyable time
watching an extremely exciting race. When all the dust settles it is
expected that between $800 and $1,000 was raised as a result of this
initiative. Thank you to Wade Wohlford and Jim Barnsley for your
organizational efforts.
Who is This Guy?
(February 18,
2007)
Can
you identify this young racer? He is obviously dreaming of racing. We're not
sure when this fellow started racing but he definitely raced in 2005. Did
his dreams come true? Click on the picture to take a better look.
If you think you know who this guy is,
please send us an email
and tell us. The email addresses we receive between now and midnight Sunday
February 25th that correctly identify this guy, will all be entered into a
draw for 2 tickets to this year's Season Opener on Saturday May 12th. Only
one entry will be accepted per email address and sorry family members ....
you are not eligible to win.
A Look From Above!
(February 18,
2007)
Here's
a look at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway from the air courtesy of local
photographer Gerry Poppewell. This photograph was taken mid week one day
last August. Notice the 2 lanes of Highway #11 at the bottom of the picture
and the 2 lanes of Highway #12 near the top left hand corner of the picture.
Looking at the 6 sections of
the main grandstands, there certainly is a lot of room for expansion when
the time comes. For fans that have not yet had the opportunity of sitting in
the steeplejack grandstands in corner #1 you can see that this is a great
view of cars coming right at you down the front straight away. Bakke's Pond
(near the steeplejack stands) looks half full.
The magnitude of the tracks
progressive banking shows up quite nicely in this photograph. Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway is definitely a state-of-the-art facility, so make sure that
you set aside some time this summer to take in some of the fast paced
exciting race action.
this year's schedule and mark off a few race dates on your calendar now!
Thanks for the photo Gerry!

Lucas Gunning for Street Stock "Rookie of the Year"
(February 13, 2007)
According
to his car registration form, 33 year old Scott Lucas, from Prince Albert,
SK has set his sights on winning the Street Stock 'Rookie of the Year'
trophy at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway this summer. Lucas and his
Lucas Racing crew of father Lloyd Lucas, Scott Reed and George MacDonald
have been busy all winter turning a
1978 Camaro he bought off
one of his nephews into a new Street Stock. Lonestar Parts, Hackl's Engine
Works, and Action Transmission have assisted in the transition process.
"I grew up watching my dad do
it, came to the track shortly after it opened last July to watch Ben Busch
race and three days later we had a car." explained Lucas when asked how he
decided to get into racing. "I hung around the old dirt track here in Prince
Albert quite a bit when my dad was racing and winning championships, so I
guess I got the bug then and wanted to give it a go, and from what I
remember it's a lot of good clean fun!" A truck driver with
Magee Construction by profession, Lucas lists snowmobiling, golfing and
spending time with his family as his other interests. With his wife Danielle
giving birth to their first child, Jacob on December 20, 2006, Lucas is a
proud new father.
Lucas is the first Street Stock
driver to register for the 2007 season. Watch for him in the #27 Camaro.

(cashiers, ushers, parking attendants, ticket takers, information booth
hosts) and the track side (lap counters, back gate personnel, flagmen, etc).

"Nitro" Nick Allen Reverts Back to #21
(January 22, 2007)
The
second driver to register for the 2007 race season at Auto Clearing
Motor Speedway, "Nitro"
Nick Allen, is reverting back to his favourite number,
number 21. "#7 goes
into the wall and #21 goes around" offered Allen when asked about the
number change. "Except for the last couple of years, I've always been
#21. Both times I tried to go with a different number I ended up in a
couple of spectacular crashes,
old track, new track, it didn't matter." Allen intends to race in
the Sportsman Division and is especially looking forward to competing in
the Western Elite Sportsman Tour races.
In addition to racing in
the eight Sportsman races at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, Allen also
intends on spending a bit of time
pursuing his other passion, drag racing. And why shouldn't he - he's the
current world record holder for both speed (142.69 mph) and elapsed time
(9.257 seconds) in the Destroyer Class over a 1/4 mile. Both records
were set in
Mission, BC on September 16, 2006. Allen is the
2006 Western Canadian Champion in the
Destroyer Class.
Allen's first drag racing
event of 2007 is in Florida during the March 2/3 weekend. In all he
hopes to race eight times in the States and six in Canada. Add in the
eight Sportsman races at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway and it all adds up
to a very busy summer. Should Allen need to call on his alternate
driver, he's in good hands as Super Late Model driver #55
Jim Gaunt has
offered to take the wheel if Allen is unavailable.

night's Executive Committee meeting was the review of a series of rule
changes as recommended by the Competition Committee. In addition to

changes include:
- The creation of a general safety rules
section, by taking out all of the safety related rules out of the
general rules section and placing them in their own section,
- Thunder Stock's will now be allowed to
use aftermarket radiators and Pro Trucks will now be able to install a
rear window
- Crate engines will be mandatory for all Super Late
Model cars beginning in 2007
- A complete set of rules were introduced
for the Sportsman Division, primarily the same as those by which they
have been racing for years, with the exception that crate engines are
now allowed in the division - The introduction of a handicapping system for
dominating cars in the Mini Stock Division has been introduced in the hopes
of providing all Mini Stock drivers with a more positive experience.
Once all the approved changes are
incorporated into the rule book it will be made available on the web
site.
