September 30, 2006 - Super Late Model Border Challenge entries approach 30 cars
With just over 24 hours to the first Border Challenge, the expected driver's list has surpassed the 25 mark and may well reach 30 by tomorrow morning. Drivers are expected from Saskatoon, Regina, Prince Albert, Kindersley, Edmonton, Calgary, Wetaskiwin, Sherwood Park, Red Deer, and Cranbrook, with an outside chance that a driver or two from Montana may still make their way up to Auto Clearing Motor Speedway for tomorrow's big race. The large turnout of cars is sure to provide race fans with the most Super Later Model cars ever to race on a track in Saskatoon.

Calgary drivers include; #54 Craig Ball, #55 Gary Lister, and #7 Jarrod Johnson. Expect #41 Kevin McMillan, #15 Fred Whiteman, #94 Ernie Ricard, #67 Dean Craig, and #76 Garth Hazelhurst from Edmonton. Not only will race fans see 150 laps of Super Late Model action, the NAPA Pro Trucks, Hertz Equipment Rental Thunder Stocks and Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stocks will also be driving hard to the finish line. September 29, 2006 - Johnson, Shirley, Seidel capture George Frey Memorial Trophies
The winners of Friday night's three feature races, #98 Bryan Johnson (Tiger Automotive Street Stock), #46 Dan Shirley (Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman) , and #70 Trent Seidel (Trader Publications Super Late Model) were all presented with trophies in recognition of George Frey, in what has become know as the George Frey Memorial race. Coincidentally, all three also ended the year with the most feature wins in each of their respective divisions.

All three winners of Friday night's feature races had relatively little trouble; all winning by comfortable margins. The closest finish was in the Super Late Model race, where Seidel held off a hard charging #38 Dave Bone. Just past the half way mark in the race, Bone received a black flag and was sent to the back of the pack. He quickly worked his way up through the pack into second place, but ran out of laps. Seidel took full advantage of an accident on the front straight which saw #01 Alex Leschenko's car catch on fire after being pushed hard into the wall. Leschenko emerged from his car, apparently unharmed. Prior to the accident, #53 Earl Harms had an eighth of a lap margin over the rest of the field, however, once the field was bunched up after the caution, Seidel wasted no time in getting to the front and never looked back.

In the CASCAR Sportsman feature race, #46 Dan Shirley was never really challenged once he took the lead in the 2nd lap. While Shirley had clear sailing, #03 Rusty Martin and #95 Paul Savoie fought it out the entire race. Savoie made continual attempts to pass Martin throughout the race, with Martin holding him off until the final turn, when Savoie was able to get the advantage and cross the finish line for second place. September 01, 2006 - Super Truck Saturday
Interest continues to mount for tomorrow's Super Truck Saturday at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. With the addition of local Trader Publications Super Late Model driver Trent Siedel to the field, its quite possible that a total of 20 Super Trucks will be hitting the track tomorrow evening. In addition to the Super Trucks, word on the street is that a minimum of 12 Street Stock Trucks (formerly Flatlander Trucks) will also be on hand. Even though these two guest divisions could make a show on their own, our own NAPA Pro Trucks are also on the program Saturday. And, for those that want a little taste of cars, the Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman cars will round out the program. Race time Saturday is 6:00 pm with the front gates opening at 4:30 pm. August 30, 2006 - Trent Seidel asked to Drive Super Truck
Trader Publications Super Late Model Points Leader #70 Trent Seidel is turning into a truck driver - a super truck driver that is. Seidel received an exploratory telephone call from one of the Super Truck drivers, #48 Dave Saunders (Wetaskiwin, AB), on Monday morning asking if he would like to drive a Super Truck this weekend. Seidel offered a 'yes I'm interested' to Saunders and soon after that the deal was done. "I always knew I was born to drive the big rigs", said an excited Seidel Tuesday afternoon.

"From the sounds of it they plan on bringing upwards of 20 trucks to Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on Saturday and thought that a local driver might add some extra interest to the show", explains Seidel. "One of the regular drivers, #24 Mark Ringrose (Ardrossan, AB), owns 2 trucks and offered me a ride in one of them." continued Seidel. "These guys (super truck drivers) are truly pumped about coming to Saskatoon and racing on our new track. They really want to put on a good show. I respect the way the truck guys race, they race fast and clean, they're a good group of guys that are into it for the fun, so why wouldn't I help them out".

"The super trucks have a little less power than I'm used to and are a little heavier, but I'll tell you one thing, I'm told that the #42 truck I'll be driving is a pretty strong truck so you can bet your bottom dollar l'm going out their to win!"

Whether Seidel will be able to master driving one of the Super Trucks on Saturday remains to be seen. For more information on the Super Truck Racing series please visit their web site. In addition to the Super Trucks, Saturday's race program will include, a guest appearance by the Street Stock Trucks (formerly Flatlander Trucks), and our own NAPA Pro-Trucks and Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman cars. Race time on Saturday is 6:00 pm with the front gates opening at 4:30 pm. For a tentative list of Saturday's events please click here.

August 29, 2006 - Super Truck Saturday Race fans - get ready for a full day of truck racing this Saturday. Highlighting the day will be a guest appearance by the Super Truck Racing Series trucks. Between 12 and 17 of these trucks are expected to be racing at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on Saturday. The Super Truck feature race will be a minimum of 75 laps, 100 laps if time permits. Also making a guest appearance on Saturday will be the Street Stock Trucks (formerly called the Flatlander Trucks), mostly from the Kindersley area. Between 10-12 of these trucks are expected. Auto Clearing Motor Speedway's local NAPA Pro-Truck and Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman cars will round out Saturday's race program. Race time on Saturday is 6:00 pm with the front gates opening at 4:30 pm for this special event. For a tentative list of Saturday's events please click here.

August 27, 2006 - Cruise Weekend Displays
Stock car drivers, #28 Cale Siemens (Street Stock), #46 Dan Shirley (CASCAR), #48 Terry Forbes (Mini Stock) along with local Legends driver Lane Sorenson were all on hand Sunday to participate in CKOM's Cruise Weekend display of cars in downtown Saskatoon. A reported 50,000 people strolled through several blocks of downtown Saskatoon on Sunday, taking in the excellent weather as well as marveling at the 1,000 or so cars, trucks, and motorbikes that were n display. The Auto Clearing Motor Speedway drivers were all busy answering questions about and promoting both their own cars as well as the new track. Thank you drivers and crew for taking time out of your busy schedules to tell a few more people about our great facility.

August 25, 2006 - Seidel Doubles Up
On a night with 2 Trader Publication Super Late Model features races, #70 made sure he made two trips down victory lane. After finishing 3rd in the heat race Seidel made no mistakes in the features to hold everyone off. Last year's Super Late Model Champion #55 Jim Gaunt seems like he is getting more comfortable with the new track as he won the opening heat race and wasn't that far behind Seidel in the last of the 2 feature races. The same can be said for #53 Earl Harms from Prince Albert won finished 2nd in the heat race and 1st feature race and fought his way through most of the field to finish 5th in the 2nd feature after a series of bumps on the back straight away dropped to near the back of the pack half way through the race. In his first time out in almost 2 years #5 Jeff Reimer finished with respectable placings (2 fourths and a third). For the full results from Friday's race program please click here.

August 25, 2006 - Kondra, Kallis, Johnson all winners
There were three different winners in the three Tiger Automotive Street Stock races on Friday night. #91 PJ Kondra won the heat race, #99 Cory Kallis won the qualifier, and #99 Bryan Johnson finished first in the feature. #88 Brad Wrennick raced a solid feature finishing 2nd to Johnson. Johnson did no worse than 3rd on the night, with a 2nd in the qualifier and a 3rd in the heat race. In addition to his heat win Kondra also took home 3rd in the qualifier. Reginian, #42 Dean Osborne had a good night with a 2nd place showing in the heat race and a 3rd place in the feature. For the full results from Friday's race program please click here.

August 25, 2006 - Krahn outpaces Vangool
#44 Jesse Krahn finally got his first win of the 2006 race season Friday night as he outlasted #59 Greg Vangool in the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock feature race. When asked about his win Krahn said, "we finally got to get some practice, I played with the wheel alignment, toe, and swaybars a bit, but most of all I would like to thank the Vangools for wrecking their car so I could finish first". Vangool did finish 2nd in the feature ahead of #41 Jim Barnsley who had his car put together after some rough luck in last week's heat race sent him to the pits for the remainder of the evening. In the Mini Stock qualifier the #19 Anderson/Voss car was first followed by #43 Todd Ferguson and #44 Jesse Krahn. Anderson/Voss finished ahead of Ferguson in the heat race, but both were behind Vangool who finished first. For the full results from Friday's race program please click here.

August 25, 2006 - Rookie Bradlow wins his first Feature Race
#2 Sheldon Bradlow cracked victory lane Friday night as he took the checkered flag in the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock feature race. Bradlow started in the pole position and never had to worry about anyone in front of him the whole race. "I was definitely getting a lot of pressure near the end, Stew (Pearce) wanted by me in a bad way", an excited Bradlow said in the pits after the race. Bradlow's car is the car that he drove when he went to college. This spring he and his dad stripped it down and turned it into a Thunder Stock car. Other than starting in the pole position Bradlow didn't make many adjustments from previous races, "I messed around with some tire pressures, and put a new tire on, that's about it" he said.

#8 Stew Pearch and #18 Bill Zubrecki finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the feature. In the qualifier #18 Zubrecki, #19 Utigard, and #8 Pearce finished 1,2,3 and in the heat race #19 Utigard took first, followed by #8 Pearce and #2 Bradlow. For the full results from Friday's race program please click here.

August 21, 2006 - Comments from Mac's Convenience Store
Mac's Convenience Stores would like to congratulate the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway executive, club members and volunteers for hosting a truly great event this past weekend. We thank each and everyone involved in making the 2006 Inaugural Froster 50 a success.

I can not tell you the number of racers that commented on the fantastic hospitality of your club. Of course this came as no surprise to me as I have met and worked with so many of the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway members as well as Herm, Ken and the team at K3 Kensulting Inc. in preparation for this event and on race day it self.

You truly have the best facility in Western Canada and also the best group running it.

The 2007 Mac's Froster 50 will be even better as we will engage and involve the fans even more. We could see it was appreciated and Mac's will be back with more stuff for those in the stands.

Mac's is proud of it's partnership with Auto Clearing Motor Speedway and looks forward to many years of involvement and support.

August 19, 2006 - Laughy bests Thompson for Froster 50 win
Ira Laughy's #38 Legends car was just too good for current points leader #01 Randy Thompson to overtake at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on Saturday night. Laughy went almost wire to wire to capture the 2006 edition of the Froster 50. While a total of 35 Legends drivers started the evening all, with aspirations of winning the prestigious Froster 50, given his dominance on the Legends circuit this season, Thompson was the odds on favourite. Laughy, however, would have no part of it. He registered the fastest time (16.622 seconds) in time trials and was clearly the fastest car on the track. Laughy, from Sherwood Park, Alberta had the following comments after the race, "First of all the facility, and hospitality we have received, is fantastic. As far as the race, we just had the car set up perfectly. The field is very competitive with some very tight hard racing, I can't wait to come back". Laughy's victory on Saturday was his first with Thompson in the same field. "It's a dream come true to drive around this track with the checkered flag". For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

The sponsor of the Froster 50, Mac's Convenience Stores did a superb job with the promotion and organization of Saturday's 50 mile or 133 lap race.  Mac's volunteers tossed out more than 1,000 souvenir items into the crowd during a prolonged evening with numerous lengthy cautions. In addition to the seat cushions, t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and lanyards that many luck fans went home with, three lucky fans went home with much more than they expected when they entered the gate.

Sherman Johnson (Saskatoon) and Preston Dignean (Hudson Bay) each took home a 50 cc Pocket Dirt Bike, one donated by the Legends Cars of Alberta and the other by Miller Motorsports. Darrell Goddard, visiting from Orillia, Ontario was the lucky winner of the 110 cc Quad donated by Mac's Convenience Stores.

August 19, 2006 - Freemantle Doubles Up
Current NAPA Pro Truck points leader #71 Trevor Freemantle continued reaching victory lane Saturday night as he won the opening NAPA Pro Truck heat race, closed with a win in the feature race and, in between, placed third in the qualifier. After finishing 6th in the heat race, #67 Ken Ross made some pretty good adjustments and not only won the qualifier but finished second to Freemantle in the feature. While #8 Andrew Clewes, #18 Stan Caron, and #48 Roger McConnell each claimed one of the top three positions in either the heat or qualifier races, the driver that had the most reason to celebrate Saturday night was #64 Stan Reddekopp. "I actually finished 2 races tonight, and finished third in the feature" an excited Reddekopp explained on his way for a celebratory pop at the end of the night. For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

August 19, 2006 - Vangool a Triple Winner
The #59 car driven by Greg Vangool captured all three Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock races on Saturday night. Vangool opened by winning the heat race and followed up by also winning the qualifier and the feature races. Vangool's job was made a little easier after current points leader #41 Jim Barnsley's car suffered considerable damage in the heat race after being spun into the wall. Barnsley was done for the night after that. "It's too bad Jim (Barnsley) couldn't race, that's why we come out here ... to race Jim" offered Vangool in the pits after the race. Even without Barnsley in the field Vangool's car seemed to be running better than in previous outings. "We changed some suspension and away she goes" was Vangool's reasoning for the improvement. "The toughest thing for me tonight was watching out for the mustang, we just didn't know what the mustang was up to:.

#43 Todd Ferguson continues to improve with a second place shoeing in the qualifier and a third place finish in the feature. #78 Matt Bartsch also finished the night with a 2nd (feature) and a third (qualifier). #92 Clay Ballard and #44 Jessie Krahn were the only other drivers to finish in the top three Saturday night. For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

August 18, 2006 - Johnson back on track
After being narrowly edged out by Mike Dionne in the last Tiger Automotive Street Stock feature race, #98 Bryan Johnson made no mistakes on Friday night as he captured the 40 lap feature race and returned to victory lane. "That was an incredibly fast feature, right from the drop of the flag" noted Johnson after the race. "This is one fast field of race cars and some good quality drivers as well.".  #99 Cory Kallis couldn't catch Johnson on Friday night and had to settle for second fiddle. #88 Brad Wrennick took home third spot. Wrennick's #1 fan (his mother) gleefully explained that "Brad ran the race like he had a bee in his bonnet."   Wrennick finish on Friday night is all that more impressive when you consider that he hit the wall a few weeks back and "broke a lot of parts" as he put it. "The only real adjustment we made today was tire pressure" Wrennick explained. The quote of the night Friday, belongs to #33 Shawn Hill - shortly after taking over the lead near the half way mark in the race, Shawn had an encounter with the wall on the back straight away, his second visit to the wall this year. When asked what happened, Hill replied "ego overtook ability". For full results of Friday's race program please click here.

August 18, 2006 - Rae more than competitive
For someone who just wanted to see how his Enduro car would stack up against the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stocks, #224 Bill Rae did rather well on Friday night. "Everybody left me alone and the car handled good" was Rae's reasoning for his 40 lap feature win. "this is just an Enduro car, I thought I would see how it raced against the Thunder stocks and it seemed to be quite competitive." The rest of the Thunder drivers had no choice but to leave Rae only, as they just couldn't catch him. ,Although he would have to make some adjustments to his car to race with the Thunders on a regular basis, Rae said "I might consider it". On the night there were several cautions when the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stocks were on the track, with several familiar names amongst the cars experiencing difficulty. August 18, 2006 - Savoie gears it up a Notch
In only the second Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman race of the season, #95 Paul Savoie had a great night Friday night, winning both the heat race and the 50 lap feature race. "We did a bit of a gear change and it worked out well. Savoie explained after the race. "At the first race we were off the pace a bit, so we decided to make some changes .. and, as I've already said, they worked out rather well, I'm very pleased." Savoie continued. Savoie's double win night duplicated #46 Dan Shirley's double win night during the opening weekend of race a month ago and may well vault Savoie into top spot in the points race. A total of twelve (12) CASCAR Sportsman cars took to the track on Friday night which is up two from last season. For full results of Friday's race program please click here.

August 13, 2006 - Impressions of our new track
The following comments from one of the CASCAR Western Series race teams after their visit here on August 5/6 pretty well sums up the initial impressions of almost all visiting drivers and crew.

"Just wanted to tip my hat to all those involved in making Auto Clearing Motor Speedway a reality. I read in a track program at the hotel that Irwindale Speedway (which is a crown jewel of US short tracks) was used as a model for the building of this track. Having raced at Irwindale on several occasions I have to say that this facility is on par with Irwindale as one of the premier short tracks anywhere. I have raced at approximately 60 short tracks throughout the US and Canada and would list your new facility in the top 5 of all of those. Awesome fan support as well! Great job, and I am looking forward to being involved with many more events there in the future.
Greg Jablonski, R & D Racing"

August 12, 2006 - McConnell and Caron shine in Double Feature
In a 'double feature' night for the NAPA Pro Trucks, #48 Roger McConnell and #18 Stan Caron were each victorious. Caron in the first feature and McConnell to close out the night. Most consistent on the night was #71 Trevor Freemantle who found himself starting at the back and working through the pack all night. He still won the qualifier and place 2nd in all three of the other races. In addition to his feature win, Caron won the heat race, and placed 3rd in both the qualifier and the second feature.

While #8 Andy Clewes was the only other driver to crack the top three positions on the night with a 2nd place finish in the qualifier, for the second week in a row #64 Stan Reddekopp easily took home the 'tough luck of the night' award. One lap into the pre race practice session, Reddekopp's left rear wheel, with axle still attached, was seen spinning up corner one and bouncing back down towards the bottom of the track while Reddekopp limped into the pits on only three wheels. Reddekopp's crew managed to gets things pulled together for the heat race, but unfortunately he had to bow out of the remainder of the night. This after having his complete wiring system catch fire on him last Friday night.

In an after race interview with #48 Roger McConnell it was very evident that he is 'having fun'. "I race with a great bunch of guys, they will lend you anything you want off the track, but on the track, they won't give you an inch, or take one either". Saturday's feature win was McConnell's first since winning the very first feature on the new track. "My family was all here tonight, which made it special ... it's pretty easy to be a winner if you surround yourself with good people and I have a great crew, they work hard on the truck all week, ... they make my job easy." McConnell says the same thing about his business, "I've got 5 great drivers that help us market and haul wood chips, bark, mulch, and sawdust throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta." For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

August 12, 2006 - Bone-thrilling SLM Race
"It was awesome, fast, enjoyable, and nice clean racing" were #38 Dave Bone's first comments when approached after his Trader Publications Super Late Model feature win on Saturday night. "The new track is unbelievable to race on, I want to thank the fans, sponsors, and particularly everyone that has worked so hard on this beautiful facility." he added.

Although Bone's win was exciting throughout, the finish couldn't have been any better for the fans as he held off a final 2 lap charge by #70 Trent Seidel to cross the finish line a fraction of a second ahead of Seidel. Seidel could do no better than 2nd on this night as this is where he finished in the heat race as well, a race in which #01 Alex Leschenko literally ran away from the field.

#53 Earl Harms from Prince Albert finally cracked the top 3 with a 3rd place result in the feature race, the same result #14 Glen Hertzke ended up with in the heat race. For full results of Saturday's race program please click here

August 12, 2006 - Thunder Stocks continue to Roll
The Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stocks lived up to their name Saturday night with several crashes, a couple of long cautions and the track crew coming out several times to clean up the track. #22 Rick Fredrickson took the brunt of the activity as he spun out on the front straight away and took out the Juicy Autobody and Cindy Moleski Photography sponsor signs during the qualifier. This after a 2nd place finish in the heat race.

#8 Stew Pearce and #18 Bill Zubrecki came through the night relatively unscathed. Pearce won the qualifier, placed third in the heat race and took home 2nd in the feature. Zubrecki opened slowly with a 4th place showing in the heat race but then placed 2nd in the qualifier before taking the checkered flag in the feature race. #19 Ray Utigard started the night out on fire, winning the heat, and coming in 3rd in the qualifier before dropping back to 6th in the feature.

#7 Scott McFadden on the other hand started out poorly, 8th in the heat race and 6th in the qualifier before moving up to 3rd in the feature. For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

August 12, 2006 - Barnsley tops Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock Field
It took #41 Jim Barnsley a race to find his winning formula, Saturday night, but when he did there was no stopping him. Barnsley finished an uncharacteristic 6th in the opening heat race before winning both the qualifier and the feature. #43 Todd Ferguson had his best night of racing so far this year as he reached the podium all three races, a win in the heat, a third in the qualifier and a 2nd place showing in the feature.

#59 Frank Vangool faltered in the feature race, finishing 7th, after a 3rd place finish in the heat and a 2nd place finish in the qualifier. #44 Jesse Krahn showed steady improvement all night, starting out 5th in the heat and progressing to 4th in the qualifier and 3rd in the feature. The only other driver to crack the top 3 on the night was #78 Matt Bartsch with a 2nd place showing in the heat race. For full results of Saturday's race program please click here.

August 10, 2006 - NAPA Pro Truck to run Double Feature Friday Night
Due to the rain that disrupted last Friday's race program, tomorrow night, fans will be treated to a double dose of NAPA Pro Truck racing. There will be two NAPA Pro Truck feature races tomorrow.  Drivers of the Mini Stock and Super Late Model divisions will be contacted to determine the nature of arrangements for the Mini Stock and Super Late Model Divisions, as they too were unable to run their respective feature races on August 4. Points accumulated in the heat and qualifier races that did run last Friday will stand. With the additional feature race, tomorrow's race program is sure to be full of excitement, as 4 of the 6 local divisions will be on hand. August 07, 2006 - Grand Opening Weekend
Plans are well underway for the Grand Opening of Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on the August 18/19 weekend. Between 30-40 Legends cars will be on hand Saturday evening to race in the Froster 50, also racing that weekend will be the Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportman's Tiger Automotive Street Stocks, Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stocks, NAPA Pro Trucks, and the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stocks. More details will be provided as they are confirmed, but in the mean time, keep this weekend open.
August 06, 2006 - Dionne takes Tiger Automotive Street Stock Feature
Mike Dionne, from Brock, SK and his #41 Street Stock held on to take the checkered flag in Sunday afternoon's Tiger Automotive Street Stocks feature race. A veteran racer, Dionne had this to say after his race. "This is one of the most awesome race facilities I've been at, I've been in the stands and on the track. Anytime you can go door to door with #98 Bryan Johnson for 40 laps, first or second doesn't look that bad. Anyone that is a race fan of any type that missed today's race program missed a great day. It's a privilege to race here". Rounding out the top three behind Johnson was #69 Robin Drysdale. For a listing of the final results of this afternoon's race please click here.
August 06, 2006 - White wins first CASCAR race
#36 Jim 'Showtime' White finally took a trip down victory lane Sunday afternoon as he won the Flo-Pro CASCAR Western Series 200 lap race at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. Sunday's victory was White's first CASCAR series race win; which is a bit puzzling since he is the current Western CASCAR series points leader. "I've been on the podium many times, but never on the top" reasoned White. White recorded the fastest lap time in qualifying at 15.246 seconds.

When asked for a few comments after the race, White offered the following, "first of all, the track is beautiful, the pictures that I've seen don't do justice, its fan friendly, racer friendly, just awesome". He adds, "looking around here, you can tell the amount of work that has gone into this place, it reminds me a bit of Calgary, and we do rather good in Calgary, there's a lot of room here".

About having to wait so long for his first CASCAR series win White explained, "We had to pay our dues and do our homework, Kevin Dowler helped us out quite a bit, but I guess if we continue as we are I don't think we'll be getting too much more advice from him". White concludes, "I've got some unbelievable sponsors, particularly Mopar and Kamloops Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ltd., they have helped me out immensely".

Following White across the finish line was #35 Kevin Dowler, the 2005 winner of the Western Series CASCAR race at Bridge City Speedway. Last years Bridge City Speedway CASCAR Sportsman Champion #64 Chris Shirley finished 3rd and #95 Paul Savoie placed 5th. A total of 18 cars participated in this afternoon's race, 12 from out of province and 6 local drivers. For a listing of the final results of this afternoon's race please click here.

This race will now take place tomorrow, Sunday August 6, 2006 starting at 2:00 pm.. Front Gates will open at 12:30 pm. For the schedule of events for tomorrow please click here.

All the Legends drivers were suitably impressed with the new track and #42 Hugh Williamson probably summed it up the best, "this facility is amazing, you don't think it is going to be much, until you get inside and then WOW I am in the big league now". #15 Dave McKean adds, "the facility is amazing, the track is next to none I have raced on before, the organization your club shows and the hospitality you provide is awesome!!." Others commented that no other track would ever let us test like this the night before a race and for such a long period of time. All 20 Legends cars that were at the practice session as well as another 10 to 20 will be on hand Saturday night. Saturday's race program starts at 6:00 pm. Gates open at 4:30 pm.

July 27, 2006 - Legends to Invade Auto Clearing Motor Speedway
This Saturday, July 29th upwards of 40 Legends cars, their drivers and crew will invade Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, in one of three planned visits during the 2006 race season. All of the top drivers are expected to be on hand, including Randy 'Junior' Thompson, current points leader of the Legends Pro Touring section. Legends Cars were created in 1992 by 600 Racing, Inc. of North Carolina to address the main concern of many racers - the spiraling cost of the sport. A need existed for a true purpose-built racing car which was inexpensive, light, and adaptable to many forms of racing. The Legends Car was born. Strict rules limiting modifications keep the costs down and the competition fierce.

The Legends Car is a real race car, consisting of a tubular frame and roll cage, a 125 horsepower motorcycle engine run through a locked differential, and tight, responsive steering. Total weight is approx. 1150 lbs. While it was originally designed for oval track racing, the car is right at home on the road course when properly prepared. For more information on the Legends please visit their web site www.legendscars.ca/index.htm. Also racing on Saturday will be the Thunder Stock, Pro Truck, and Super Late Model divisions.

July 25, 2006 - Junior Racing Program takes Another Step
The Auto Clearing Motor Speedway Junior Racing Program (ages 12-18) takes another step forward this Saturday July 29th. All interested 'juniors' are asked to be at the competitors entrance (back gate) of the track by 6:30 pm for an 'in pit' one race night orientation.  For insurance purposes, everyone entering the back gate must be a member, so before entering the pits each junior will be required to purchase a Junior Membership. These are $25 and are good for the entire year. The 'junior membership' age is indeed 12-18 NOT 14 as indicated previously.  The July 29th one race night orientation night will cover safety, do's / don'ts, racing language,  and provide an opportunity to meet competitors, and for Q's & A's among other things.  After the orientation, junior participants will have earned the opportunity to be a contributing pit crew member.  16 drivers have stepped forward and are more than willing, ready, and able to accept a future generation racer. See you there!

July 24, 2006 - Interview with Les Hillacre
"We accomplished more than we figured we'd accomplish, " understated Les Hillacre when contacted Monday evening. "I've entered every Invitational for the last 4 years, and finished in the top 3 the last three years, it feels good to finally win one" continued Hillacre. Hillacre's win came just days after his close friend Mike Thompson from Warman twisted his arm and convinced him to pull his car out of storage and enter this year's Tiger Automotive Martensville 150 Street Stock Invitational. "The car worked really well, awesome in fact ...we worked the high groove and just a little over 50 laps managed to overtake #98 Bryan Johnson for the lead" explained Hillacre, "he (Johnson) then challenged me all the way to the end, staying right on my back bumper for the most part, he definitely put the pressure on me. I really enjoyed racing Bryan", Hillacre states. When asked about the track, Hillacre was quick to say, "awesome facility, smooth track, the grip was actually better than I thought it would be from watching the first few races." Having started racing on dirt in Rosetown some 6-8 years ago, Hillacre plans on racing a SRL Modified car for the rest of the 2006 season.

July 22, 2006 - Hillacre Wins Tiger Automotive Martensville 150
The winner of the first ever Special Event race at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, the Tiger Automotive Martensville 150 was #171 Les Hillacre. Finishing second was #98 Bryan Johnson. #69 Robin Drysdale was third. For a complete list of results click here.

July 22, 2006 - Story in the Martinsville Bulletin (by Mike Wray)

That is Martensville with an “e,” and it is located in Canada. For the complete story that appeared in the Martinsville Bulleting click here.

July 22, 2006 - McFadden leads top 5 Thunders to Street Stock Invitational
#7 Scott McFadden took top honours in the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock feature race on Friday evening to be the first of 5 Thunder Stock drivers to get a promoters invitation to tonight's Tiger Automotive Martensville Street Stock Invitational. McFadden also finished second in the qualifier. #19 Ray Utigard, #8 Stu Pearce, #23 Kevin Nixey, and #859 Nathanial Wagner finished 2nd through 4th to round out the group that will challenge the Street Stock's tonight. #19 Utigard won the heat race and #8 Pearce took top honours in the qualifier. In other action on a hot Friday night, #41 Jim Barnsley continued his winning ways by finishing first in both the qualifier and feature races in the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock Division. Other top finishers in the Mini Stock Division were #92 Clay Ballard who won the heat race and #43 Todd Ferguson won placed in the top three in the heat, qualifier, and feature. In the Trader Publications Super Late Model Division #70 Trent Seidel picked up where he left off last week by winning the heat race and then crossing the finish line just ahead of #38 Dave Bone in the feature.

July 21, 2006 - Crate Engines Exceed Expectations
The first outing for the Super Late Model crate engines proved to be an overwhelming success, with wins in both heat races (#09 Doug Bienia and #70 Trent Seidel) as well as #70 Trent Seidel's win in the feature race. Not bad considering Sunday's Trader Publications Super Late Model race consisted of a full field of 15 cars.

According to Seidel, "the performance was better than expected."

With a limited number of Super Late Model cars in recent years, it is hoped that the introduction of the 'crate' engine will  make racing a Super Late Model car less expensive. "I figure I'll save $1,000 in fuel alone, over the course of this summer." Bienia offers, "and on top of that I've saved at least 100 hours in preparation time, you no longer need to be a technical whiz," he adds.

In addition to the savings in fuel, and preparation time, the front end cost of a crate engine is significantly lower than the cost of a manufactured engine. "Having installed a crate engine this year, the overall simplicity of the motor from start to finish" is a big plus notes Seidel, "If Dougie and I can get this kind of performance the first time out on brand new engines" they've got to be good.

With a bit of controversy in the off season surrounding the introduction of the crate engine in the Super Late Model Division, a lot of eyes are on the engine. If the results from this past weekend are any indication, the crate engine is here to stay, particularly since the first and second most winning Super Late Model cars in the history of Auto Clearing Motor Speedway use crate engine cars.

July 18, 2006 - Top 5 Cars Thunder Cars to Receive Invites to Saturday's Street Stock Invitational
Auto Clearing Motor Speedway is pleased to confirm that the top 5 finishers in this Friday's 50 lap Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock Feature race will receive a 'Promoter's" invitation to the Tiger Automotive Martensville 150 Street Stock Invitational on Saturday. "This provides our Thunder Stock drivers with some added incentive, early in the year, as well as a taste of some Street Stock racing and will add to what has traditionally been one of our best shows of the summer." states President Shawn Hill. The 5 Thunder Stock drivers receiving invitations will be able to race their cars as is and will not need to make any modifications. They will, of course, have to abide by the Street Stock 'rules of the road' when on the track.

July 16, 2006 - Barnsley Continues Winning Ways
#41 Jim Barnsley continued his winning ways at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway Sunday afternoon with a win in the heat race, a second place finish in the qualifier and his second consecutive feature win this year. This performance allowed him to maintain a 9 point lead over #59 Frank Vangool in the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock Division after two races. The #78 Matt Bartsch car spoiled Barnsley's perfect night with a victory in the qualifier. For a complete list of results and updated points standings please click here.

July 16, 2006 - Johnson Continues where he left off!
Perennial Street Stock Champion #98 Bryan Johnson picked up where he left off at the end of the 2005 race season. Johnson clocked the lowest time (18.198 seconds) in the time trials, won both his heat and qualifying race as well as the feature. "We are so excited to just be a part of the opening weekend, to have Al Bakke drive our own car today was a thrill, and he drove it every bit as good as I did, in fact better than I did until the feature. Racing side-by-side is what really gets me excited" " A total of 15 Tiger Automotive Street Stock cars offered some very exciting racing action this afternoon. Rounding out the top three in the feature race were #99 Cory Kallis who finished second and #14 Wade Wohlford who came in third. July 16, 2006 - Successful Opening Weekend Concludes with 15 Car Super Late Model Feature
The opening weekend at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway concluded on a windy Sunday afternoon with an impressive field of 15 Trader Publication Super Late Model cars battling it out over 40 laps. In a race that saw several different cars take the lead, 3 or 4 cautions, and a couple of close calls with the wall, #70 Trent Seidel held off a late charge by #55 Jim Gaunt to win the first Super Late Model feature race at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. "It's completely unexpected", offered Seidel after the race, "you can say its a dream come true. I didn't set any goals to win; after qualifying I just wanted to get a respectful run, top 5 or something. I'm excited more than ever now to come next week to run side by side. To run two wide is terrific!" Seidel also won one of the heat races and earned the honour of having both the slowest (30+seconds) and fastest (15.649 seconds) times in the time trials.

The other highlight of the afternoon in the Trader Publication Super Late Model Division was the heat win by crowd favourite #09 Doug Bienia. "It was a win thanks to Wes, sitting their watching your crew chief die is a downer, so I think he would have like this" Bienia stated after the race. "In the time trials we ran so bad, but then we changed the settings to what Wes had them" continued Bienia. "As the laps went by I couldn't wait for them to get that white flag out there. I put a new motor in my car, a new transmission, a new fuel cell and a bunch of other parts, what I won today should just about cover that." That statement pretty well tells you Bienia and all the other drivers are pretty well doing what they do for the love of the sport, and those few minutes of glory when they win the odd race or two.   For a complete list of results and updated points standings please click here.

July 15, 2006 - Great Program Lined up for Sunday July 16
With the first race program in the books at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, its time to turn our attention to tomorrow's race program. It looks like the excitement created on Friday night is going to carry over, as there may be as many as 15 Super Late Model cars ripping around the track at speeds over 100 mph. The Trader Publications Super Late Model field will include drivers from Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Kindersley, Regina, Edmonton, and potentially Calgary. Garth Hazelhurst, 6 time SLM Champion at Bridge City Speedway (76,78,79,81,83,89) now living in the Edmonton area arrived yesterday and was one of the cars on display on the concourse level Friday night. The other car (#67) on the concourse last night was that of Dean Craig from Edmonton, winner of the July 8th Dash for Cash at the NASCAR Dodge Super Late Model races at Edmonton International Speedway. Sunday's race program will also feature 2006 Street Stock Champion, Bryan Johnson, and the rest of the Tiger Automotive Street Stock field getting their introduction to the new track, and a second crack for the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock drivers. Rounding out the program will be a guest appearance by the Saskatchewan Racing League Modified cars. For more information on the Saskatchewan Racing League please click here

July 14, 2006 - Track Records
Contrary to previous reports, Jim Gaunt does not hold the track record (just yet anyway) at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway. This honour currently resides with #46 Dan Shirley who clocked a time of 16.141 Friday night in the Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman Division time trials. While the top dog in the NAPA Pro Truck Division was #67 Ken Ross in a time of 18.374, the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock Division record is jointly held by #18 Bill Zubrecki and #25 Mike Leather who both registered a time of 19.467. Rounding out the early season records is the #78 duo of Matt Barsch and Kelly Coffin in the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock Division with a time of 19.239. For complete time trial results click here.

July 14, 2006 - Opening Night a Hugh Success!
Well over 4,300 people, the most ever to watch stock car racing in Saskatoon, took in the inaugural race program at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway on Friday evening. In what was truly an evening of firsts, it appeared that everyone enjoyed themselves, from the Kehoe RV corner right through to the corner #1 beer grandstands. And why wouldn't they, the weather was perfect and what better facility is there to watch stock car racing, even if it is still a bit rough around the edges. The first car to take the checkered flag on Friday evening was Jim Barnsley in his #41 Mini Stock. Jim also captured the feature race to take the early points lead in the Saskatoon Hyundai Mini Stock Division. In the Hertz Equipment Rentals Thunder Stock Division, even though Bill Zubrecki won both the heat and the feature he still ended up slightly behind #8 Stew Pearce at the end of the evening. In the Canadian Forces CASCAR Sportsman Division, Dan Shirley ran away with both the heat and feature races, mere hours after putting the engine into his $36 car.  Perhaps the highlight of the night was the unveiling of the NAPA Pro Truck Division where there were three different winners on the night. $64 Stan Reddekopp won the heat, #71 Trevor Freemantle won the qualifier, and #48 Roger McConnell won the coveted feature race. Even though there were no spectacular spills Friday night, a number of drivers had their first encounter with the wall. For complete results click here. July 14, 2006 - How to get to, and how to exit, Auto Clearing Motor Speedway
For those not familiar with how to get to Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, there is only one way in to the track - off of Highway 12 (the highway to Martensville or Blaine Lake). Take this highway out of the City of Saskatoon, once over the overpass just past 71st street you will see the track off to the right. Turn right at 87th Street (Ritchie Bros Auction corner) and double back about a km to the entrance to the track. There will be two ways to exit the track - back the way you came in or if you are headed back to Saskatoon, onto highway #11.
