June 18, 2006
- Volunteers of the Day
Heavy
rain on Saturday, once again, played havoc with the weekend plans to undertake a
good old fashioned 'work bee'. Thanks to the few determined volunteers who did
turn out on Saturday to do what they could.
The weather on Sunday, proved to be
much better with things drying up significantly in the afternoon. The Volunteers
of the Day on Sunday were
Taryn and Taylor Freemantle who took their dad Trevor out to the track to do
some painting on Fathers Day. As you can see from these pictures when they got
home, there was still a little bit of mud around the track on Sunday.
The weather forecast for the next couple of days looks good, so anyone that can
spare even an hour or two, please drop by the track and give us a hand.

June 01, 2006 - Wow!!!!
I stopped at the track last Friday as I was coming into Saskatoon. All I can say
is WOW!!!!!!!! What a cool track. That place looks AWESOME and it is not even
done yet. Unbelievable view from the grandstands, WOW, WOW, WOW!!! I cannot wait
to get my Legends car on the track. Please give me a shout or contact me via
email about the car display you and I spoke about in Lloydminster and my store
(NAPA). I am also interested in the corporate tents that are going to be
available. I may be interested in one for the Legends race Aug 19 (FROSTER 50)?
I am also interested in trying to find some seat time in one of the Pro Trucks
you are going to have running this year????? Once again Kudos to the association
- WHAT A TRACK - WELL DONE!!!!!! I will support you all I can from here. Have a
great day. WOW !!!!!!! Dave McKean
May 17, 2006 - New Track Update
The
Track Relocation (Building Committee) met Tuesday evening. Although progress is
moving along quite nicely, many tasks remain to be completed. The main
grandstands are on schedule and a little over half done; the Steeplejack stands
require two good days of work to complete; the movement and leveling of dirt is
only a few days away from completion; almost all of the smaller items have been
moved over from the old track, and the lighting, safety fence, and guard rails
are being prepared for installation.
The facility that is being built is
arguably the best facility in Canada! With this in mind, the Committee is at a
loss to explain why many of the drivers and their crews that will undoubtedly be
racing at the facility are not coming out to lend a hand. Different incentives
to bring more people out have been discussed. These will be announced as they
are finalized. With some 44 days to opening day, much is yet to be done. Work is
continuing every day, all day, 7 days a week. so if you can do your part and
spend a few hours come on out and lend a hand, Thanks to those that are coming
out on a regular basis - your efforts have not gone unnoticed. Thanks to all non
members such as the 8 boys from Holy Cross Collegiate, pictured here, that were
out on Tuesday evening helping with the Steeplejack grandstands.
May 13, 2006 - Caron "Spins-Out"
at SIR
Cliff
Yelland reports that Bridge City Speedway member Stan Caron took his new Pro
Truck for a "spin" at SIR on Friday evening. Not satisfied with turning what is
believed to be the fastest 1/4 mile speed for a stock car vehicle ever at
Saskatchewan International Raceway, Stan Caron spun his truck around just past
the starting tree. His left rear axle came loose and the axle and tire hit
Stan's own left rear fender before rolling on down the track by itself. His
truck stayed between the guard rails and off the competition, coming to rest
backwards in his own lane. Although "tire doughnuts" are nothing new to Stan,
this is probably the first time he ever made one on his own vehicle with his own
tire.
